Excellent chair and lightweight too. HIghly recommend.
We really do love this wheelchair. We had purchased a different brand at Costco, also lightweight, but it didn’t hold up for one trip. We ended up returning that one and purchased the NOVA instead. This NOVA was perfect. We take our mom on trips using it. She is comfortable on it when we have her sit on a nice pillow, which we always take for her to use with the chair. This chair is a smooth enough ride, has a foot lever for the person pushing it so you can press down on it with your feet and navigate bumps. It folds easily and is lightweight so I can easily lift it. We easily fit it in the trunk or taxis while traveling, usually needing to take off the foot pedals, but they come off very easily, so no problem there.

    Quality chair
Bought this chair for my wife who gets fatigued quickly from her Parkinson’s. We first used the chair on a trip to Sedona, Grand Canyon and Zion national park. The chair made it possible for her to be out most of the day and experience some amazing sights. The chair is light enough to handle comfortably getting it into and out of the car’s trunk. The larger rear wheels and a place to step down on the back of the chair, make it easy to tilt for going over curbs and bumps. The hand brakes are great for downhills and I like the separate wheel locks next to the rear wheels. The person in the chair can release the wheel locks if needed. It seems to be made pretty well, all the welds are clean and everything worked out of the box. The arms may be a little high for a shorter person, like my wife, but a seat cushion makes it more comfortable. It costs a few bucks more than similar chairs but the additional brakes and quality seem to be worth it. See how it goes in the long run.

    Pleased
When the chair arrived I simply lifted it out of the box and it was ready to use. I needed no tools or directions. This chair has made my life as the caregiver so much easier. The chair is lightweight and sturdy. I can fold it quickly and easily lift it into the trunk of my car. Now that I do not have to lift a conventional wheelchair it is possible to do many errands in a day with little effort. I looked endlessly online trying to determine which chair to purchase. I made the right choice. I am very pleased with the quality, look and ease of use of this chair.

NOVA Transporter 19″ Lightweight 300 lb Capacity
Generally I am very pleased with this product and so I should be after doing weeks of research to get the right one. However, one of the leg rests does not seat well. I am hoping this will change over time as I think it is primarily because there is too much paint (LOL) … I think the arms on this are kind of high, but my passenger is not upset by them, and it is she who counts. When it comes to my turn to use something similar I will have a hard time.As previously stated by a number of people the braking system (hand brakes) for which I paid extra (this unit with hand brakes cost more) are virtually useless. It could be that might be more effective with a lightweight passenger, but since the weight capacity is listed at 300 lbs (which means that maybe someone weighing 250 lbs ought to be OK) the brakes ought to be effective for the weight capacity listed. I wasn’t expecting miracles but I was expecting the hand brakes to slow the thing down when needed. Since I move at the pace of SNAIL when I say “slow down” we are not talking by very much. LOLIt is really hard to find a product that is light weight and yet wide enough to accommodate someone comfortably. In many places this was listed as a 20″ unit. I bought it “HOPING” it would be 20 inches, but knowing that it likely would not be.Nevertheless, it has done the job intended and even one step further, as one night it was the stand-in for seating at a restaurant and my passenger was not uncomfortable. It’s my belief that of all the products out there if you have a passenger who is is 200-250 pounds and want a quality crafted item, even with the drawbacks, this one is the way to go. It folds well and is light weight enough to lift into the trunk of the car. Foot rests are a pain but no more than any others would be LOL

    Not quite happy
I am glad I did not pay any more then I did for this chair. It is adequate for our needs but when it arrived I had to fight for quite a while to get it pulled apart to open it the first time and shortly after that the right brake assembly literally went BOING! The clamp moving around has stripped the paint in that area besides marring the aluminum tubing. I had to attempt to repair it myself and it is still not 100%. One handle also will not fold completely back without a great deal of difficulty so it isn’t quite as compact and I am concerned about further damage to the chair itself. The removable footrests are nice but I can not adjust them so luckily they were at the length we needed coming out of the box. The chair when folded will fit in the trunk of a Civic but I’m afraid getting it in the backseat will either be impossible or another struggle. It does handle fairly well on uneven sidewalks and seems to be fairly comfortable. The straps on the footrest are a nice idea but do not stay on their posts so you either have to leave them dangling or keep stopping to put them back. If they added anything to this chair I would suggest a strap or something to “lock” it in the folded position for getting it in and out of a trunk. I wish I could have rated this higher then a 3 but there were to many petty annoyances right off the bat to rate it any higher. I would recommend it but not wholeheartedly.
