Adequate Grab Bars
These grab bars are made from 1.25″ tubing. They welded a plug on the inside of end of the tube to attach the mounting plate to. The mounting plate is attached to the grab bar tub using a bolt.The Ok:1. They work. When installed the are adequately strong. The bars come with sheet rock anchors that I did not and would not use. I attached my bars mounting plates to the studs.The Not So Ok:1. The bolt that attaches the mounting plate to the bar only engages one thread. I would have preferred that a nut had been tack welded to the back of the plug which is welded into the ends of the bars.2. The fit between the trim ring and the mounting plate is not very tight. If you over tighten the mounting screws the mounting plate distorts and the trim ring will not stay in place.3. There is no texturing on the tubes. With dry hands you get adequate grip. Not as much with wet hands.After installing these bars I gave one of them a pretty hard pull and it did not move. Remember, I mounted my bars to the studs and did not use the sheet rock anchors. If you get the longer bars you can mount them at an angle from adjacent studs. I mounted one vertical to one stud and one at an angle between 2 studs.
