Just What I Need Post Surgery!
This is a sturdy grab bar. It is nicely finished, professionally made, and comes with all hardware. The grab portion of the top bar has a knurled area to provide a good hand grip. Just in case the existing toilet paper holder is out of reach, one is provided on this grab bar. The nickel finish is nice. The mounting bases can be loosened with an Allen wrench and rotated to get the three holes to line up the way you need them. In my case, that was two of them vertically on the wall mounts to hit a stud, and on the floor to better line up with grout lines where I needed to drill the tiles. Note that generally it is not recommended to drill in grout lines because it chips the edges of the tile. This floor is coming out some day, so I didn’t care. The vertical support going to the floor is shipped as a separate piece. It easily attaches without tools. The one in my kit was chrome instead of brushed nickel, but you have to be pretty sharp-eyed to see it, and it doesn’t bother me at all. I recommend this product.

missing an important stabilizing part-
This item is good is some ways, but has a big flaw for my bathroom right off–the toilet paper hanger is just in front of the toilet water tank- back at the point where my elbow is just above it, which makes it very difficult to reach. The tip of the bar does not even come out to where the holder already mounted in the wall sits- which is at a comfortable place, but could still work ok if closer to the seat- but that would still be about a foot farther out than the hanger built into the grab bar. Since it is definitely useless, I would rather it not be there at all- it detracts from the appearance. Unfortunately, it cannot be removed. Ok, I figured over on the side by the wall, it would not be too noticeable- we would use it anyway.However, when I slid the upright into the holding point of the bar, to hold it up to see how it would look, it seemed a loose, floppy unstable connection. Something was not right. There were no instructions, not even a parts list. I looked at both the rod ends and it appeared there should be a bolt threaded into the one and attached to the other so they would screw together., as there was a hole in each piece, and I could see in at least one there were a few threads cut into the metal hole. Upon looking at the 2 bags of hardware, and then at the end of the upright piece and the part of the bar it fits into, and comparing it to the seller’s picture, I see that a small piece of hardware is not included. I looked at the excellent pictures another reviewer, Elizabeth, took, and sure enough, her pieces have that part and it certainly would stabilize the connection. I tried to take a picture of the two ends of mine (the 3rd picture, but it is not a great picture-I had a hard time trying to hold the 2 parts and camera and push the button to take the picture, but I think it can be seen that mine is missing something,–there is nothing to screw together as was shown it the video they also had, although you do not see inside the ends of the rods. I also circled the item in a parts list the seller showed on their site, and show the hardware I got- a bag of 3 pairs of screws and plastic anchors and one of 6. I went back and looked carefully in the box and the plastic wrap– nothing else was there. At this point, my rating is down to a single star.Without that part I am afraid the rod will not be safe- the floor rod does not insert all that deeply into the receiving part of the grab bar. So, I will try to contact seller and Amazon and see what happens–will report back.In the mean time, I wanted people to be able to take into consideration where the toilet paper hanger will sit- on this longer bar, it will be on the bar at a point 11 inches from out from the wall where the bar is attachedReporting back with update- I contacted Amazon about the missing threaded piece on the leg and they immediately began processing an exchange-the replacement arrived promptly and the leg has the threaded piece on it and the parts went together just fine, and the rest looks ok. However, one of the little plastic bags with the screws in it- had a hole in it and the screws were loose in the box-the did not damage the grab bar or the leg since both of them were in plastic covers, but I would have been short one screw had I not had the bag of screws from the first order. They look like ordinary screws so probably I could have gotten one at our local hardware store that still sells many such items by the piece, or I might have to get a small container of a few. However, of course, we really should not have to to do things like that.I did not contact the seller- it was Amazon that handled the replacement–they get 5 stars while the product and seller have inched up to 3.

Sturdy and secure
I bought this grab bar for my 83-year-old grandmother, and it’s been such a helpful addition to her bathroom. We placed it between the toilet and the bathtub so she can use it for either, depending on what she needs. It’s sturdy, functional, and has really given her more confidence to get in and out of the bathtub and on and off the toilet by herself with the extra support it gives. Installation was simple and straightforward, and it feels very secure once in place. For the peace of mind and independence it provides, I’d say it’s a great value for the money. Overall, I’m really glad we purchased this—it’s made a big difference for her.
