The extra length allows for more contact between the two surfaces that you are transferring and the wide with gives you more peace of mind knowing you have more body surface on the board at any given time.

We have a loved one coming home to home care soon. We will need to be able to move him from the bed to a wheelchair or other apparatus on our own. This is what this board is good for. It’s polished to a smooth, high gloss and allows you to SLIDE the person from one place to another. The care facility has shown us how to use it. Now we just need to practice a little.This board is heavy, but it needs to be in order to support the weight of a person. I believe this one, the XXL one, is rated up to 400 pounds. That’s over kill for us, but I figured bigger and more heavy duty would be better.Has hand holds at each end.Beautifully crafted. Smooth as silk. Nicely finished. No rough edges at all!

High quality transfer board, size up recommended
I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the Extra Wide and Thick Transfer Board, which has thick construction and an excellent finish that leaves no concerns about splinters. This board has made transferring our patient to and from the wheelchair and bed much easier. Despite our patient weighing only 180 lbs, the XXL size with its 36″ length has been incredibly useful, especially for transfers between the car and the wheelchair, as it accommodates the space needed for our lengthy wheelchair. Although there is a learning curve, watching a few training videos helped us get the hang of it. Overall, this board has been a valuable addition to our patient care routine.

I bought this while in the hospital after major surgery. I thought this would be useful to transfer into an SUV from a wheelchair. I am heavy so I wanted something strong. This is just too big. I only used it twice and now it just sits there. I wouldn’t buy again.
