It works with LED and Hubitat
Installation was pretty straight forward. You need to install the app and also make sure you can get this device onto a 2.4GHz WiFi network in your house. But otherwise, everything worked great. I was even able to add it to my Hubitat automation hub. It was pricey, but it solved my issue of needing both a fan and light in the same location while also being able to automate it and working with LEDs. It does all of those things. I can control it remotely from my phone and the dimming ability is great as well as configurable.

Product Worked Flawlessly & Great App
I have used Kasa devices in the past and can vouch for their reliability. I live in an apartment and was tired of not being able to use my smart LED light bulbs. I looked online and found this as a solution to my problem.Setup took about 30 minutes. Obviously, you have to be patient and diligent as you’re dealing with wires. If you’re slightly familiar with electrical, this shouldn’t take much time at all. Unscrew the existing fan control, label all the wires for both the existing and to-be-installed wires, shut off the breaker, remove the old module, and put the new one in its place. The thing you should look out for before starting is if you have a neutral wire. It’s typically the white one tucked away in the back.Do the needful, and you’re set. Push it in place, screw it down, and put on the included faceplate. (Ensure you screw it really tight in the wall to properly place the faceplate and prevent gaps.)This thing looks elegant. It works like a charm, and installation was easy. What more could I ask for? I’m beyond satisfied. What separated this product from others is that, in the event of a power outage, you can reset the device. I’m aware other products have issues with save states or onboard memory. What more could you ask for? Check for compatibility first and buy this product. For me, it’s been a huge quality-of-life upgrade. You’ll thank yourself later by the amount of time saved controlling your fan/light with your voice more than you could imagine—especially if you’re already well integrated.

Amazing ceiling fan and light control in one.
My house has ceiling fans in each of the bedrooms with independent light and fan switch. This smart dimmer/control was a perfect upgrade. Installation will be familiar with anyone who has replaced a light switch or receptacle in their home. This switch has some short wires coming out of it that have tinned ends pre-stripped. While the switch comes with plenty of screw-on wire nuts, I’d recommend DIYers get some lever lock wire nuts instead. Your electrician or handyman will probably bin the included wire nuts.Do check your home wiring before buying this. Not all homes are wired for independent fan/light control at the wall. Some may not be wired in a safe fashion either.Setup is a breeze via the Kasa smart home app. The switch is quickly detected and added to my Wifi network. Some added features of this switch is a soft on/off function for the light. You can even fine-tune it via the app to work with your chosen bulb. The fan control works perfectly. Simply set the chain pull on the fan to its highest speed, the wall control does the rest. You even gain a fourth speed. There is an audible hum from the fan as it starts up but once at speed it is nearly inaudible. Why dock 1 star? I also use home assistant. The Kasa app is great, but I have smart home stuff from other vendors too. There’s something with the Home Assistant Kasa integration that does not give you dimmer and speed control. You only get on/off functionality in Home Assistant. Even worse, Home Assistant turns on to 100% ignoring the last speed/dimmer setting used. Hopefully this gets fixed down the road. Google Home works fine. Gemini will have no issue operating your fan and light when you say the magic words.

Kasa WiFi Ceiling Fan Switch: a hands-down winner
I bought one of these Kasa Wifi Ceiling Fan switches for our family room cathedral ceiling fan, & liked it so much, we bought another for our screened patio ceiling fan, & & then a couple more for 2 other rooms. The units work really well. I’m a big Leviton fan, but the Leviton WiFi fan controller requires a separate switch in the wall for controlling the light. This Kasa fan switch controls =both= light and fan.The installation was easy. The Kasa packaging & instructions were first rate. They even include a sheet of peel-off stickers for labelling each of your wires BEFORE you start disconnecting the old switch. This is the best product guide & information I’ve seen. Easy to read. Well written. Crystal clear. And, absolutely correct. The wiring installation took about 20 min, because the Kasa switch is very deep & has to go nearly all the way to the back of your switch box. Pushing all the wires and caps aside to get the switch in was most of the hard work. It’s a tight fit.ALWAYS download the Kasa TP-Link App to your phone and register the device =before= you try anything else. You will then have no problems at all with: setting up the fan & configuring it; adding widget mini-screens for the fan control to your cellphone’s desktop; & =finally=, going in to Google Home or Alexa, and setting up the fan in the correct room of your home for voice control to take over. The modern touch-screen slides for the fan speed & light intensity are a little different. You get used to them. They look great on your wall! We rarely touch them. The voice control & the Kasa Widgets for your cell phone home screen do all the work for us.Mostly, we use Google Home voice control, or the Kasa 4-speed fan widgets on our cellphone home screen. We had a problem with our patio fan: it has no light. We capped the red wire from the Kasa switch instead of connecting it to the light. I made double-sure the white neutral was firmly & solidly connected. Everything seems to work well, reliably, & normally. No problems at all without the light connection. These Kasa fan control switches are excellent. I am delighted. I will definitely be considering Kasa WiFi switches & adapters for other uses in our home.

There’s not a lot of choice for HomeKit fan controllers. This one is fine. Not sure I’m 100% behind the touch control. You can easily adjust the speed or brightness by mistake (or lack of hand-eye control). However, the Meross fan controller is total junk. Multiple presses (like double clicks) of the fan button or the light button are used to adjust speed and brightness. It’s somehow not quite intuitive. Worse was the Meross would disconnect from Wi-fi and never reconnect. Had to do a complete re-install each time. To be fair, the room is Wi-fi challenged, but still the Kasa works fine and seems to always be connected. Kasa also has a much better IOS app too.Keeping the Kasa – Meross fan switch goes to the yard sale with the totally total crap Wemos. My other Meross switches have no problems.

Pros:- Easy to use controls. For example, to turn the light on, just touch the light slider at the desired brightness level and the light comes on at that brightness. Fan control dimmer switches from eg Treatlife require that you first turn the light on before you can adjust the brightness, meaning you can blind yourself at night before you have a chance to dim the lights.- Easy to set up in the app.- Exposes ON and OFF events in Alexa.Cons:- The dimmer was not able to dim LED bulbs significantly even after trying bulbs from two different manufactures. The dimmer that originally came with my light+fan as well as a dimmer from Treatlife were able to properly dim my LED bulbs.- The procedure in the app to adjust the min and max dim levels is convoluted. You first have to sit through a test of several seconds before you have a chance to adjust the min and max brightness levels. In the Treatlife app, for example, you just immediately tap a slider to adjust the (min only) brightness, which is much easier.I really like these dimmers (I bought two plus a motion sensor), but I’ve given them only three stars because they could not dim properly, and sadly I have returned them and opted for dimmers from Treatlife, which, although much clumsier to use, work properly with my lights.

I would have given this five stars except for the fact that I couldn’t get one to pair with the app and until it does, it will show red flashing lights even though it will work to control the fan. I had to move one of them closer to the wi-fi hub to configure it and move a previously configured one to its former location … I had to reconfigure that one but was able to do so. I did have to try multiple times on half of them to pair them with the app but all eventually did configure … except for one which as I said above, I had to move. It appears as though one was a bit pickier on how close it was to the wi-fi. Since being installed and configured they have worked well.

It works excellent. Make sure you’re only using it for AC motors. I noticed it’s a little warm to the touch which is fine. One annoyance is that it is too easy to accidentally factory reset it by only holding either button for 5 seconds. This has already happened to me twice.

The switch I got was used… dirty and scratched. Not impressed to say the least. TP-Link is usually better than this.
