Good Health Ring to Cell Phone App Syncing
The ring came with a USB-A to USB-C charging cable and instructions that advise you to download and install an app called Momax Sense. There is also an app on the Android Play Store called Momax Smart. That is the one I initially downloaded, and it resulted in confusion and wasted time, as there is no way to install the health ring with that app. Once I realized that I had the wrong app, I installed the right one and proceeded with syncing the ring. The ring is synced by putting it inside its charging case with the charging cable connected. Make sure to keep the cover open. I closed it, as it seemed the right thing to do, and the sync failed. Once I left the cover open, the ring showed up in the app, and pairing took place.Figuring out how to register my account so that my collected data could be saved wasn’t obvious. I ultimately found its tab at the top of the settings screen. Once selected, it asked for my email address, a verification code [provided by the app but had to be re-entered], and the creation of a password. There was an option to connect the app to Google Health for sharing my data, and I elected to do so.My heart rate is normally 55 to 60 beats per minute at rest. The ring initially indicated that it was 95 bpm. It appeared to be a non-repeatable error as all subsequent readings seemed accurate. That anomalous reading, however, skewed my average heart rate. Blood oxygen and skin temperature readings were accurate with the initial and all subsequent readings. The big mistake I made with ordering this health ring is that I ordered it to fit my ring finger, size 8, instead of my index finger, size 10. It would have been easier to use its selection sensor if the ring had been worn on my index finger. The selection sensor is a small dot that resembles an LED light on the outside of the ring, but it isn’t. I set the ring to take cell phone pictures by long-pressing the selection sensor. It’s a little hard to tap when wearing it on my ring finger. Other things that this sensor can be used to activate are start/stop music playlist, start/stop video play, e-book reader page flipping, and up/down presentation slide changes. The most important thing I’ve learned since wearing this ring is that it must be worn at all times to get reliable, consistent data. Over the last few weeks, the ring has reported my sleep patterns and inter-day health data to the Momax Sense app, which in turn shares it with Google Health. In time, I expect to build a dependable database of medical information that can be shared with my doctor during our next wellness visit.

Numbers showed clear while trying each fit
Kept the kit on the table while checking ring sizes one by one. The pieces have a smooth surface and a bit of heft, and the numbers are easy to read when held up to the light. They cover the common sizes well and slip on without trouble. A couple felt slightly bulky compared to the rest, but not enough to get in the way.

    Falls Short Despite Lower Price
I ordered the momax Smart Health Ring to see how it compared to the Oura Ring, and unfortunately, it didn’t measure up.While it does track sleep, heart rate, activity, and stress, I don’t feel that it measures any of those elements as accurately or consistently as the higher-priced Oura. Its lower price is appealing, but even so, it feels overpriced given the subpar tracking app.I do appreciate the touch sensor – it’s a nice feature that more smart rings should consider – but that alone is not enough to make me switch from my Oura Ring.

    Love it!!!!
I am truly impressed with this smart ring. I was a bit skeptical but after seeing how easy it was to setup and use, as well as everything it can do I am extremely happy with it. Not only it can provide heart rate, skin temperature, oxygen levels but it can also show me sleeping, health and exercise patterns. This ring can even be used to control music and camera in your phone. I am literally in awe of all the benefits it offers. There is so much more. But let’s not overlook the elegant and beautiful design. It looks great and is super comfortable. I love it and would absolutely recommend it.

    Not Recommended
I’ve been collecting a few different kinds of smart rings over the past six months as I’ve been losing weight and getting in better shape. I started on the cheaper rings because my fingers were continually getting smaller and smaller so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that wouldn’t fit me two months after buying it. Since then, I’ve tried everything from cheap $15 Temu rings to premium ones like Oura. I’ve gotten to know a lot of different ones (and different apps) during this time. The first thing to realize is that a lot of these rings are manufactured by one company and sold by others at large markups. This is ring one of these types. As a matter of fact, you can find this exact same ring right here on Amazon for less than 1/3rd of the price of this one, but without the “Momax” branding. You can find it at an even lower price if you look hard enough, but maybe within two-day shipping. That being said, let’s look at this ring. Here are some of the good things about it:It does have some features that differentiate it from other smart rings, like the notification LED. This is rather neat. You can set reminders in the app for various things. I have mine set for my medication reminders. When it’s time, the small, almost invisible LED on the band lights up pretty brightly. It will stay lit solidly for around 3D seconds, then it will pulse on and off for another 30 seconds. Note that there are no vibrations or anything, so if you aren’t looking at it, you’ll miss it.The touch sensor is another neat feature. I’ve had other rings with touch or motion sensors, but they usually only worked on one direction. This one works in both directions, so you can do things like scroll a page on your phone up or down, go forward or backward in a music app, turn pages back and forth in an ebook app, or switch slides in a PPT presentation. It’s quite useful. It also has an SOS feature, if that’s something that you’re interested in. If you have that feature enabled, you can call an emergency contact silently on your phone by repeatedly tapping the ring. That could be a compelling feature for some people. To use these functions, it’s best if you wear the ring on your index finger so you can operate the touch sensor with your thumb. If it’s worn on a different finger, it might be difficult to accurately use the sensor. It would be nice if the app let you set which hand you’re wearing it on, because if if you switch hands, you have to remember which way to swipe forward and backward. The sensor accuracy is fine for some things, but not great for others. While this is true for a lot of smart rings, I feel that they should be better with a smart ring at this price point.Heart rate measurements seem to be in the ballpark of other ones. The readings are similar to other devices. If you start a workout, the ring will record your real-time heart rate, though it doesn’t display it during the workout. When the exercise is finished, it will provide a summary afterwards.Blood oxygen is also reported accurately, at least as far as I can tell. It will also provide a summary of your SPO2 during sleep, and while it might not be “sleep apnea detection” quality, it will give you an idea if you’re having breathing issues while sleeping. It also detects temperature, but as I haven’t had a fever while testing, I can’t really comment on the accuracy. The sleep monitoring is pretty poor. It seems to detect sleep and wake times accurately, so it will indeed tell you when you fall asleep and when you wake up, the sleep phase detection is a jumbled mess compared to even much cheaper rings. I gave it a week to see if it could “train” itself, but it hasn’t improved. It just looks like noise, and I know that it’s not doing a good job at differentiating between deep, light, and REM sleep. It’s just bad.The step counting isn’t too bad. Compared to a waist-mounted pedometer, my Apple Watch, and my Oura ring, it’s close enough that it could be used as a decent counter. I’ve had other rings that were much worse. The battery life isn’t very long. I only have one ring with worse battery life, and it’s a super-cheap one that is very thin and has a really tiny battery. On this ring, even though it’s the same size, more or less, as other smart rings, it only lasts marginally longer than my Apple Watch. It doesn’t last three full days between full and empty, which just isn’t long enough for me. Perhaps the touch sensor components require a smaller battery? Finally, the app, in my opinion, is simply horrible. Someone at Momax must REALLY like the color green. Everything is displayed in different shades of green and yellow green. The sleep stages are displayed as sections of different green shards. Some people might like green, but the bile-colored interface just turns me off.Fortunately, since this ring is just a rebadging of another company’s product, there are other app options. The AIZO RING app works exactly the same way with all of the same features, but it looks much more polished and it’s a lot more pleasant to look at because they use the entire color palette range instead of just green, yellow-green, white, and black. If you do decide to buy this ring, for some reason, use this other app with it instead.I’m rating this as two stars, mainly because it’s (again in my opinion) extremely overpriced – at least from this vendor – considering that the exact same product can be purchased right here at a much lower price. This ring is charging a “premium” price, but it’s simply not a “premium” smart ring. Some of its features are novel and work well, and perhaps firmware and/or app updates will improve its performance, but if you’re willing to spend this much on a smart ring, there are better options.I’m adding some pictures to show the sleep comparison with the green Momax Sense app, the much better-looking AIZO RING app, and also my Oura ring and Apple Watch app for the same night so you can see the differences, especially in the important deep sleep category.
