If You Like That Hard Wood Log Feel…
Just received this today, it was heavy, felt like a wood seat. I am really amazed at how heavy the cushion is. Been sitting in it for about 2 hours. I must say this is the most uncomfortable cushion I have ever sat on. I mean, the hard rock feel. It does conform to your backside. But it also rejects it at the same time. It reminds me of sitting on the banks of a cement walled river, and fishing when I was a kid. Will keep it for a couple weeks, but if it does not get softer, it will be sent back to the seller. I mean as hard as a rock!!!! It even flattens you buttocks out. I guess the neighbor kids will be calling me Mr. Flat Tush!!!?12/21/13Well, it has been three days since my using this seat cushion. I must say, it is starting to soften up some. It is much better sitting with it than without it. Actually starting to get comfortable. I would buy again, but for no higher a price than I paid for it. I’ll update this post at a later date and give more feedback on the cushion.01/29/14:Well it has been a few weeks of using this cushion. I am surprised. It is still holding the shape. Not comfortable and still very useful. I like it in the sense it is better than sitting in my Alera Office Chair without a cushion. The more I use it, the more that I am glad I bought it. Give another update in a couple months. If you want a seat cushion, give this a try, for the price it is good and getting better!UPDATE 04/27/2014:Been sitting on this every day, all day as much as 19 hours per day, since I ordered this cushion. Nice, sturdy, holds it shape, cushions the old behind!!! Very pleased with the performance of this cushion. If I ever get some extra money in my Gift Card account, I will order another cushion in this model, for future purposes. I’ll update this review later this year, in the late fall.

    Good-sized Memory Foam Cushion
Wife needed a transport chair after her hip replacement. The sling seat on the chair was not comfortable. This cushion is extremely comfortable. It’s not too thick, but provides good support. She uses it on her recliner and dining room chair. The fabric on one side is stretchy and breathable. The other side is nonporous for incontinence. The cover can be removed via a zipper for cleaning. There is a handle for easy carrying. Highly recommend and would buy again.

    Works better than annticipated.
I had to replace a cushion from another brand because the gel was starting to leak out. (Not too bad for 8 years of daily use). I found this one and it is the same brand as a walker I had to use after a surgery, I figure why not. Drive is a reputable company and made a very good quality walker and this cushion is too. I got the larger one and it was very firm but comfortable. I got used to the firmness rather quickly. Even my cat likes to lounge on it. Sometimes we have disagreements over who’s going to use it. The Drive brand is now in my top 3 medical supplies/brand list.

    Buy this when on sale
I’d say that this is a decent cushion for a decent price… when it is on sale. I bought mine when it was 70% off. And I’m content with the price I paid for it. I wouldn’t want to pay $140 dollars for this cushion though.I’ve only had this cushion for a couple of days, but here is what I have noticed so far.Pros:The cushion feels very high quality and is comfortable to sit on. It provides even firm pressure everywhere, but it does give enough to provide cushioning. It doesn’t heat up horribly like memory foam. Although it does get warmer the longer you sit on it.The cushion has a nice case with a handle, the bottom is a rubbery plastic substance and stays in place pretty well. The cushion is three inches thick. I like this feature because I needed to sit up higher to improve the ergonomics of my wrists and elbows. But if you don’t want a three inch boost, this could be a negative for you.Cons:The cushion provides even firm pressure everywhere and as a result of this I’ve felt underwear seam marks in my skin after sitting for a prolonged period of time. Nothing too, too bad, but a bit annoying. So if you can’t have pressure on certain parts you sit on, then this cushion won’t be too useful. Also, since the cushion conforms to you very well, it also doesn’t leave a good path for air to help with cooling. This cushion can warm up to a too warm temperature if you sit on it for too long. Mine gets a bit too warm about every hour or two. I usually get up to take a coffee or restroom break, and when I come back the cushion has cooled off some. But if I’m wearing thicker pants, like jeans on casual Friday, I definitely warm up faster and I start to get the gross sweaty butt. And I’m trying to keep my butt dry, not moist or damp. And something that is very annoying at first is that the cushion’s cover has a top made of a wind-pants/polyester type material. So it is very slippery. I have to hold onto my chair with my hands if I try to scoot it forward. Otherwise I just scoot right off of it.And aesthetic wise it’s better than a bright blue cushion. But it does look like something from a hospital. It’s just not very stylish with it’s plain rectangle shape, and off white/black cover. Most office chairs have a rounded seat, and so corners of this cushion hang off the edge of my chair. Not a deal breaker since I’m usually more concerned about practicality than aesthetics, but if you want something that won’t stand out in an office environment, this probably isn’t the product you want.Even though I have more cons than pros, it does its job well enough for me that I will give it four stars. If I remember I will come back after a couple months or a year and comment on its durability.EDIT: After about a year and half, the canvas slip started cracking around the seams. I put some duct tape over to stop the spread, but it’s not a perfect solution. It still cushions exactly the same though. Maybe I need to sew a cloth cover for it or something. But it’s made my very meh office chair something I can sit on all day with no issues.

Misleading weight descriptions in 2 locations.
I weigh 312 lbs., In the description of product it says it supports up to 500 lbs. The cushion seemed comfortable and supportive for the first 3-4 days but after that it seemed to not be as supportive nor comfortable to sit for long periods of time. I have since looked back and there seems to be 2 descriptions of this cushion with 2 different weight limits. One says 500 lbs. and down below that under a picture it says 275 lbs. SMH, which one is the correct description and isn’t that a little misleading? Then they want to charge you to restock for something that is misleading? I will just make it off as a loss of $48.00 and still try to use it, just not the product I was expecting.

Great support. It smells for a week or so which sucks… .but adds good comfort to hard office chairs. Problem is that the top material is slippery and I catch myself sliding forward… I wish they had a material that is more clingy.Edit: After using it a few weeks… I find as a heavier man, the foam doesn’t go back and stays with my rear end’s impression when I return to use it – it supposed to be rated even up to a whopping 500lbs… not true.

I bought this wheelchair cushion to replace a foam cushion in my living room chair that died many years ago. I had purchased the same wheelchair cushion five years earlier and had good results………..no so, this time!!!! The wheelchair cushion IS comfortable, and DOES help with pressure point sores. HOWEVER……….whatever the cushion is made out of now STINKS HORRIBLY!!!!! It was okay for the first few days of use, but then the “chemical” smell started leeching out of it, right onto my clothes. I put the cushion inside a pillow case and covered it with a folded up blanket before sitting on it, but the smell just leeched through the blanket as well. Now, instead of just a “chemical” smell, the whole thing—blanket and all—smells like a baby’s dirty diaper……….not kidding at all!!!!! I’ve tried contacting Drive Medical twice, but have yet to hear back from them. No idea how to get rid of the stink………and I would NEVER let any guests sit in the chair with this cushion in it (embarrassing!!!!!!).Update: After using this cushion for the past seven months in place of a living room chair cushion (I just kept washing the blanket I placed on top of it), the foam and gel is now totally compressed, and I’m getting pressure sores from sitting on it……………..and I only weigh 135lbs, NOT the 500lbs that it is rated for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T BUY THIS SEAT CUSHION!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE: After almost two years of using this cushion (I can’t afford to replace it), I finally figured out what the horrible stink coming from the foam was from. I took the foam out of the casing again tonight, and discovered a stain going from the top to the bottom (it wasn’t there when the stink started). I took a knife and started peeling back the foam, and discovered that the gel insert had sprung a slow leak, and leaked all through the middle of the foam, and eventually came out both sides, and turned black and stinky inside. That is also the reason the foam compressed so quickly, compared to the last wheelchair cushion I purchased. I would NEVER buy from this company again, especially since they never returned any of my emails or phone calls, and their email forms don’t work (i.e., I kept being told not to use any URL’s in my comment section, but I didn’t have any in there). Find another company to deal with!!! And never purchase anything from Amazon if there’s a chance you will need to get a refund — it isn’t worth the hassle.
