Customers say
Customers find the traction cleats work well on canes, particularly in Minnesota winters, and appreciate their ease of installation, being able to put them on walking sticks in about a minute. The cleats provide excellent ice protection, making walking safer in icy conditions, and offer good grip with rubber to resist slipping. While customers find them sturdy and easy to flip up when not needed, there are mixed opinions about their bendability, with some reporting that the teeth bend easily.

Durable and reliable
This was so helpful this winter when trying to walk through ice and wet snow. I love having the 2 pack so that I can use one hiking outdoors for better grip in muddy areas. I feel much safer. Installation was super easy; I followed the video tutorial.

well made & functionsl
the spikes are easy to install, firmly grip the cane shaft & are easily swung into positionpurchased because my gravel driveway turns to sheet ice & often a thin layer of water over sheet iceI waited to order because I didn’t want the delivery driver falling so by the time I did order, despite several ominous weather reports, I didn’t ever have to deploy the spikethe spikes do of course add heft to the bottom of whatever they’re attached to, noticeable but not hamperingthe plastic cover has a tendency to come off if jostled & could be designed better

This is a good product with a couple of modifications.
I like this product. I have owned other brand ice tips which, quality wise, generally look about the same. But VIVE does improve their product marginally with the addition of rubber inserts that help protect the finish on your cane.I have learned from past experience that the screws on these products WILL loosen in time under moderate to hard use. Rather than risk losing these tips in snow pack, I strap them down securely with HEAVY DUTY (250 lb) ZIP TIES which makes them much stronger, more effective and less likely to fall off when most needed. This is easy to do. First, simply position the spikes centrally on the cane tip and anchor it to the rubber with the first zip. Next I firmly attach the collar with the supplied screws and place another zip about mid point between the two.Since I own several canes I don’t worry that these sharp tips can no longer be pivoted out of the way. (I use this technique on a (hefty) wood cane for walks to the car and the mail box on really nasty days (or if my balance is not the best I also have all four legs of my walker done this way.

Ice Tips for Canes
Very effective on ice and easy to retract when I go inside

These things work great on ice and snow. Easy to fold down and no slip.

Great balance on ice or any slick surface

Great idea, Difficult to use
These are a great idea to have as an addition to your hiking sticks. I bought a couple pair to add to the hiking sticks I bought for my mom and another friend. They were very difficult to put on the walking stick and the rubber cover for one of the spikes was missing. These were for older women and one of them has tremors and trouble gripping things and the other one has fragile skin. They would not be able to attach these tips to their hiking sticks themselves and I was afraid of them getting scratched by the spikes with the rubber covers missing (which were also very difficult to put on to cover the spikes). These are a good idea but they are not user friendly for everyone.

Initial Review: Excellent; Im a believer
Purchased these in August to use in the winter and so far I am a believer. I installed without the rubber spacers and trimmed the length of the mounting screws. My right cane tip tends to lose grip and slide to the one o’clock position and the left cane tip tends to lose grip and slides to the eleven o’clock position, so I installed these ice grips on the outside of each cane to utilize the compressive strength of the inner portion of the “L” rather than relying on the tension of the rods as they are likely to bend out and lose grip. If I were to place them on the inside of the cane, I fear they would catch my clothing or bend out and slip when I really need them. Placed on the outside of my crutches, I do need to be mindful of my animals and wall surfaces. The ice grip holds sure even when the ice grip is packed with ice. These have been used for many hours in two days within the 2025 ice storm and so far there are no problems and they have held up nicely with no signs of wear. The ice grips are easy to flip on and off the rubber cane tip when I am going to or from slippery surfaces. I highly recommend these ice grips to the general user; however, professional ice climbers and frequent users may need something more robust. THIS IS MY OPINION ABOUT THIS ITEM AND HOW I INSTALLED THEM ON MY CRUTCHES. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, STAY OFF SLIPPERY SURFACES AND THE ICE AND SNOW AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Easily fitted and adjusted and very good due to lots of wet leaves on paths where I live, I’ve also had other cane users enquiring where I bought them.
Carolle –
After falling twice during the first snowfalls I had to do something. I never leave home without my walking stick and this attachment

I knew I’d need something for my week in Lapland as I did not want to stay inside. Checking on Amazon these ice spikes seemed to be the best thing. They are retractable and worked like a dream. A crazy thing to purchase however I could not have managed without them & I would unreservedly recommend.
