    Helpful aid
This is very helpful. It leaves the seat as it was versus raising it 5″ with an insert that has arms. Stability is fine in terms of safety but there is some play due to the snap together legs. It will wiggle an inch or less right and left but provides plenty of safety. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. It just takes a little getting used to. Arms raise for removing items like trash cans when installed in in tight places. Got them for my disabled wife but I too (78 year old) find them helpful. Really like the way the seat is just as before installation.

My mother had a different model that slipped under the …
My mother had a different model that slipped under the toilet seat on the front end. The problem was that this other model resulted in the seat pinching and bruising her thigh. Therefore, we purchased this Drive Medical frame. This Drive Medical model was a little wobbly at first but we installed the Stander Security Pole (Iceberg White) (purchased on Amazon) on the right side of the toilet and tied the right front leg of the Drive Medical Toilet Frame to this Stander pole. This stabilized the Drive frame. My mother also knows to depends on the right side more than the left side. My mother is petite and thin. The top of these handles were too high for her while the lower half of the handles did not allow enough leverage. The Drive frame legs have 5 different height settings, however, we needed to adjust this lower than the lowest setting which resulted in the top bar slanting downward a bit. This worked and she likes this new frame. This frame also has 2 settings on the back bar to change the width, we used the narrower setting.

Drive Toilet Safety Frame: We’ve used it for TEN + Years. It is still as sturdy and looks just as good as when it was installed
We have been using these frames around our household toilets for over 10 years…YES, the SAME ONES! They are incredibly durable, don’t damage the toilet, don’t slip or slide or damage the floor, and they are sturdy enough for this 300 PLUS pound woman to sit and stand safely everytime. They are so easy to set up, that we even have a set that we take to my son’s house when we visit him. he installs them in less than 5 minutes, and they give my husband a comfort level, knowing he can go to the bathroom alone and manage just fine.

It is really horrible for anyone needing stable
I bought this for my wife to help her after spinal surgery. It is really horrible for anyone needing stable, secure rails, period. On a standard Kohler toilet, the rails wobble side to side terribly to the point of being dangerous. The problem is that the frame is actually 5 pieces: 2 adjustable legs, the 2 curved handles, and a cross piece that goes under your toilet seat. The length of tubing after the locking button on the two curved handles is *too short* to provide any support. This turns the front legs into funny, unstable canes. We worked around it by looping a length of zip tie around the two upper rails to pull them together tightly, but this makes the seat lid lay against your back while you are on the toilet. Alternately, we had someone in the bathroom to hold the front of the handles in place while she used them to stand up. Of course, we bought this PRECISELY so she could go to the bathroom unassisted. This product needs a recall and a redesign before someone hurts themselves! Avoid!

It helped my wife’s sister and brother
We bought this frame for my wife’s sister who was recovering from knee replacement surgery. She told us that it did help her. It’s not meant to be solidly rigid like grab bars fastened to the wall, especially with sideways loads, but she found it worked well to provide her with that bit of extra support she needed in getting up and down. Kind of like a walker helps to stabilize a person. And because the support is on both sides of you and equally in line with your direction of motion, I think this tends to work better than a single grab bar mounted on the wall as in handicapped restroom stalls. The frame is supposed to be rated at 300 pounds weight capacity. While I can’t vouch for the 300 pound maximum capacity, I can say that it should support most adults. If you have any doubts about load bearing, position a helper to assist a new user until they get comfortable with going on their own. I think most people, even those who are weight-endowed, will find they do OK once they get used to it.The frame is attached to the toilet using the same bolts that hold the seat on and it was easy to attach – just unscrew the nuts on the seat bolts, lift the seat off, place the safety bar frame on the toilet and reattach the seat with the bolts passing through a bracket on the safety bar frame. All the hardware lined up fine and the bars themselves are height and width adjustable so unless you have a really weird shaped toilet you shouldn’t have any problems.Updated April 2018 – My wife’s brother used this when he had knee replacement surgery and also found it to be a helpful aid for getting on and off the toilet. I had a chance to use it and I did notice the wobble in the supports that other reviewers have commented on. This might be a problem for people who are especially frail or who have noticeable balance problems. For most people, though, it should work OK if it’s only being used for a bit of extra support as they recover from surgery such as joint replacement. I reduced my evaluation from 4 stars to 3 because I think the designers could have done a better job of making the supports less wobbly.

    Works, some fitting issues
This filled the bill as a quick solution to toilet use after ankle reconstruction. The way the arms project and curve over is definitely superior to models with shorter arms, but they do wobble a bit. Had to replace the existing easy-remove-hinge seat with an institutional seat that has a solid hinge bar in order to fasten the frame/seat tightly. Be sure to check the front-to rear clearance between tank and hinge backs. Our john is in a separate closet with walls on either side, plan to install wall rails in place of the frame as a long-term solution.

    Great Bathroom Grab Bar
This was used to help someone after a fall and it was most helpful. I highly redolent it.

    Works well. Easy to Install.
Had hip replacement surgery and this device has been invaluable. It may seem a bit wobbly, but I’m 290 lbs. and it’s plenty sturdy for helping me lower myself onto the toilet, and in bearing my weight in standing up. Installation is very easy.

Very easy to install and prevents falls. A must have when your middle aged legs are starting to give out.

Supports my 110lb family member. The wider setting is too shaky and unstable. The vertical settings are too tall and too short. Needs more holes drilled for vertical setting

The package arrived on time as expected. Installation is very straightforward and easy. This was for my elderly mother, and this particular make and model were recommended by the OT assistant of her care facility. I tried it out myself just to see how it works and I found the railings wobbly, and it made me feel unstable even though I have no balance issues. So far it seems to be working for my mom, so maybe the wobblyness of it is intentional. BTW the wobblyness has nothing to do with a level floor – the rails are moving out to the side a bit.

Had to return it, it was so unsteady. The whole reason I bought this was to be a sturdy frame. It easily had a 3” sway both sides once installed properly. We returned it and bought one that doesn’t have legs, but tucks under the toilet seat.
