    Great for the classroom!
I absolutely fell in love with this series of books and bought several to start my collection in my classroom. I love being able to read about these with my students to teach them about inclusion and that no matter what a child may have, they are similar to him/her in terms of wanting friendships, going to school, having days out, and spending time with families. I love how these books can really relate to my students. As we were reading through the pages I was able to point out specific tools that we use in our classroom every day such as visual schedules, headphones, and calm down area. As I was reading, I was also able to see them making connections in the moment. When we read about noises getting loud accompanying the illustration of a circle time meeting I heard my students say “Paige wears ear defenders”. Reading on a couple pages later about visuals for schedule or feelings I heard my students say “Ryan uses visual pictures at work time”. The positive language used throughout the book naturally turned their “disability” into “abilities” reframing them in a positive light while weaving acceptance and kindness throughout each page. Another thing I really loved about this book is that it represents both sexes, male and female, in the story which unfortunately is not always the case due to common misconceptions. This series is definitely one I see myself continuing to grow with my collection including one that can be read at Christmas time and how all these special abilities helped to save Christmas.

Great tool for helping a little one understand ASD
Purchased to help my 7 year old understand why she feels so different. On every page she stopped me to say “just like me!” Or “I do that too!!!” This is the first book I can recall her asking us to read again and again. She’s even using some of the lines to explain herself (always been one to copy scripts). I purchased a 2nd copy for her class and she’s excited to talk to her friends about it so they can understand her better. She’s always known she was different but now she knows she’s not the only one. This book has been a gift for her self confidence.

Very simple but explanatory book. My son who’s 5 was drawn straight into it reading it with me. I’m hope that this will help introduce him to his diagnosis. Highly recommend!
