Customers say
Customers find the jar opener easy to use and install, with one mentioning it mounts under upper cabinets, and appreciate its ability to open any size bottle or jar top. However, the functionality receives mixed feedback – while it works well on small or large jars, some customers report it doesn’t work on all jars. Moreover, the grip quality is problematic, with customers noting it doesn’t grip well and only has teeth on one side.

Not just for the weak!
I have had once for years and have loved it. My mother-in-law near 80 is having a hard time opening her tea bottles. This has helped her a lot! Great to open hard to open items and great for those with arthritis. This is a must for all kitchens, not just the weak!! There are jars some strong people cannot open, but this can for you with ease!

I love this thing!
For context, I’m a 73-year old woman and I’ve been using an old one of these for many years (maybe 30 years or more?), though I don’t remember where it came from (I didn’t buy it). I decided to see if I could find another one “in case” I somehow lost or broke this one. When I found it I bought two, for both me and a relative. I couldn’t answer the review question about installation because so far I’ve always used it “loose”, keeping it in a kitchen drawer. But if my strength fades as I get older I can see how attaching it to a cabinet underside would be helpful. But even without attaching it, this opener is unbelievably good for opening anything of any size that has a screw lid. Between the long “pie” shape of the lid space with the metal teeth on one side and the plentiful space available for a hand-grip (when not attached) I’ve so far found nothing that I couldn’t open.

THE ORIGINAL WORKED
I had the original wood opener and it was great. When we sold that house it was left with the house. Had it for years and it was wonderful. The original had teeth on both sides and it never failed to open anything. I tried to open some jelly with this new one, and I tried many times. The teeth would not catch on the lid, it just kept turning but not opening and I used all the strength I had. I’m going to try the stainless steel and see if that makes a difference.

Difficult to install, easy to use.
Having to screw this into a cupboard bottom is quite a chore. Couldn’t use my screw gun cause it is a bit cramped and trying to hold the unit in place and get the screw in there is tough. Plus – after seeing the comments I chose to screw it in first time without the advhesive in case I had to discard it. Once in there though I didn’t even consider putting the adhesive on it and having to re-install it.Otherwise the unit works great so far. I’ve had it about 3 weeks and it has worked on every jar I tried. No complaints at all. Don’t know problems others are having with it.

Mounting is a pain in the ….
I bought many of this type of product over the years, most of them are good. This one didn’t work because the screws are to short and small to screw into the wood.I went to Home Depot and bought longer screws.

Lifesaver
I am fairly young (39) and have been diagnosed with early osteoarthritis in both hands. I no longer can grip bottles, jars etc to get the tops off. I mounted this under my upper cabinet in my kitchen and another in my bathroom. Opens virtually any size cap, with little effort. I have used it for large jars all the way down to small beverage bottles.

Takes a lot of effort
Have to push in the jar very very tight. wife not strong enough to use it. I just have enough strength to get to loosen up the lid.
