HomLand RS5 Ultra-Light 16.4 lbs Rollator Walker with Seat
Since the item page has good photos, and it has a good description of this product, I will not bother adding pictures or more of a description. As described, this item is a Rollator Walker. I’ve only had it for a SHORT time, but it seems to be made well and sturdy.Putting together the Rollator Walker, was not difficult for me, but can be if not mechanically inclined. This type of assembly should be simple since it all is put together and adjusted with Button Springs. The parts are labeled (1->1, 2->2, etc) so you know where the wheels go etc.No tools required to put the walker together. If your brakes need to be adjusted, there is a minor adjustment for each brake, but if you need more then minor adjustment, then you will need tools. For my unit, the brakes worked fine. The seat on the walker is 16”W X 10”D. The width is 18″ ONLY if you sit on the bars that hold the sling seat (I don’t think that would be too comfortable). It’s a sling type of seat, it’s not a hard seat with lots of cushioning. It does have some cushioning, but not as much a a hard seat. The hip room is ~18.5”. The seat height is adjustable from 23-24″ with 3 adjustment levels. The handle height is adjustable depending on the height of the seat. The handle height also has adjustments independently 11″-14″ from the seat to the top of the handle with 4 adjustment settings.Depending on what you set the height of the seat, and the handle height adjustment (seat to top of handle), the handle height is adjustable from 33.5″ to 38″The backrest height is adjustable depending on the hand height 6″ – 9″ (since it’s attached to the handles bars) from the seat to the bottom of the backrest. The back rest height from top to bottom of the backrest itself is 6.5″The brake are good, but if the walker is on a tile or smooth surface, the wheels won’t move when the brakes are applied, but the wheels might not grip the floor well depending on how much pressure to move forward/reverse. The wheels are a harder plastic, and not rubber. You can lock the bakes in place by pushing brake handles down for the purpose of keeping the walker in place when sitting, keeping the walker in place when not in use, or folding the walker and leaning it against something. The wheels measured 8″ in the back, and only 9.5″ in the front, not the 10″ advertised on the product page.As far as folding the walker, it folds left to right by pulling the handle on the seat up. It folds up 9″W x 28″ Depth. As far as the height, it depends on how heigh you have the handles and the seat heigh set for. If you need to put it in the car or a storage area (depending on the size of the place for store it), you might have to take the wheels and arms off to fit in the car or storage area. Since it’s all button spring, it should be easy to disassemble and assemble again.

Solid Construction, Easily Adjustable, and Excellent Features
Rollator walkers with a front-to-back folding frame and ones with a side-to-side (cross-fold) frame each have advantages. Combining the advantages into a single package, the Homland model R5S rollator is a solid option with all-terrain tires, a padded seat, storage area, and lockable brakes.Assembly:An included instruction manual clearly lays out the simple assembly process. Also, on the seller’s Amazon webpage there is a less than 2-minute video detailing assembly and some usage characteristics. The wheel/leg assemblies have numbered stickers that correspond to the numbers on the rollator frame. Each leg has adjustment holes that are around 1 inch apart, so ensuring the legs are at the correct height is important. After I inserted the legs, I placed a level on the seat to ensure I had all leg heights set correctly. Each handle either labeled “A” or “B” slips easily into the rollator frame slot with the same lettered label. Like the legs, the handles have height adjustment holes set about 1 inch apart. Velcro strips provide a way to secure the brake lines to the frame, so they don’t snag on nearby objects. The seat back slips into the slots on the frame and provided screws secure it in place.Spring-loaded detent buttons on the legs and handles allow easy adjustments up or down. As with most rollators, it requires some bending to adjust the height. For me, I found sitting in a chair while maneuvering the handles and legs easiest.Use:Maneuvering the rollator is easy even when making a 180° turn. The large front wheels swivel readily, and the handles’ extended palm rests allow for good control whether moving in a straight line or turning. When in motion, the handbrakes quickly stop the rear wheels from rotating. Adjusting the brakes by turning the brake screw is important so that whoever is using the walker feels comfortable with the pressure required to apply the brakes. Also, the wheels may not grip all surfaces the same, so even when applying the brakes some sliding may occur. As with other cross-fold rollators, pulling the strap on top of the seat collapses the device. The frame’s sides easily spread for use, but ensuring the locking mechanism on each side below the seat securely clicks in place is important.Seat and Storage Compartment:Many cross-fold rollators have thin material seating to accommodate collapsing the device. The R5S provides seating that has more padding than some other cross-fold rollators, and still readily folds when collapsing the unit. When sitting on it, I found it best to lock the brakes by pushing the brake handles down and using the rollator handles to position myself on the seat. A breathable material backrest provides support while seated. The zipped bag on front of the walker allows another person to access stored items without having to get up from the seat. While the bag is accessible from the back of the rollator, some users may find it too awkward or may cause them to be off balance if trying to reach it from behind the walker.Final Opinion:The Homland model R5S rollator is one of the sturdiest walkers I’ve seen and is easily maneuverable. Features like the palm rest on the handles, locking rear wheel brakes, a storage area, and a comfortable padded seat make it more than just a utilitarian walker. All-terrain tires are a functional addition that enhances the rollator’s usage. I consider the Homland R5S the best I’ve tried in terms of construction, functionality, usability, and storage. When considering a Rollator walker, the Homland model R5S is an excellent choice.I am not a physical therapist or medical professional, so all the information provided in my review is my opinion of the Homland model R5S rollator walker based on my personal experience. Individual suitability for this walker or any other mobility device is best determined by the person using it and medical professionals.
