It all depends on what you need. I have a recurring wound/ulcer on a two foot scar down my left hip and thigh. This handles the exudate very well. I put it underneath a 5×5 inch wound dressing.

This has not been available over the counter for some time. After cleaning and dressing the wound, this Silver Calcium Alginate is used to fight all types of infection. I have it in my emergency kits. This will only be used in cases of wounds too severe to treat, and continue our trip. No, this is for genuine emergencies where evacuation is necessary. I have found this dressing to be a prime infection fighter. You must prepare for even the most dire situation, and be ready to act. This is a start
