So the instructions say it should fully inflate in about 12 minutes. Mine might have taken just a little longer, but not much. Maybe 15 minutes. Quite a clever design though. It’s not just one long wavy air mattress, each one of the humps, or waves, is actually a cell of it’s own, that can be removed completely and replaced if needed. THAT’S what the extra piece is that comes in the bag with the patch kit. A spare cell. Looking at the spare that comes with this is how I ultimately figured out and understood what it was because the instructions really don’t mention anything about it. Also, thanks to the reviewer who pointed that out in the first place.

Does the job
Pump is quiet. Settings take getting used to. Have it in the lowest possible setting otherwise it’s really hard/ firm. Really helps prevent pressure wound and promotes healing on bottom after the day sitting in the wheelchair even with gel cushion.It does make getting person in and out of bed harder as air shifts underneath. I have to pull person to center of bed by washable dry pad, then again to edge in morning. Any air pad does this. Had to tape over control knob as lightest bump shifted the setting. If person tends to lean this will prevent self straightening up for many. I find person against safety rails many mornings. Seems to hold up well. Using on functional hospital bed on top of mattress. Instructions were for a different model. Had to work with company to set up correctly. They were great helping.

Living Breathing Air Mattress
I needed something stiffer for my back and wanted some control, not just a static air mattress, and came across this one. It felt like a breathing mattress as along the mattress it has tubes and every six minutes it inflates and deflates ever so gently that it soothes the muscle as you sleep almost like having someone slightly patting you on the back. I was taken aback at this motion as when requesting it I did not know it had this feature. The motor is so quiet I had to come up close and put my hand on it to see if it was even running. Going on my fourth night and have no complaints. It even comes with a cover. The documentation is full of information and plenty of warnings.

WAS SO EXCITED WHEN WE FOUND THIS NAME BRAND ITEM AND AT A GREAT PRICE, IMO!IT WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL ABT3.5 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE! WHEN IT QUIT WORKING, THE MATTRESS PAD WOULD AIR UP, BUT IF YOU SAT ON IT- IT COMPLETELY DEFLATED!NO HOLES FOUND AND ALL PLUG INS CHECKED.! PERSON USING WAS WELL UNDER WEIGHT LIMITS.VERY DISAPPOINTED. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN COMPANY FOR MEDICAL SUPPLIES.REQUESTED REFUND AS ADVERTISED; AND WAS OFFERED PICKUP BY UPS OR MAILING USPS- BOTH FREE AS ADVERTISED. WILL UPDATE INFO, IF NEEDED , ON THIS SITE.WHEN CONTACTED THEM, THEY SAID UPS HAD TO PICK UP THE VERY NEXT DAY (WITHIN 24 HOURS), WHICH SURPRIZED ME; AS ITS A LARGE BULKY ITEM- MATTRESS AND ELECTRONIC PUMP!
