It works with ZHA…with some effort.
As a Home Assistant user running ZHA, I can tell you that this definitely works with. However it is a bit of hassle to setup. There is something out there called a “quirk” that i had never run into before. The instructions on how to set this up up are available, but the feel fairly hidden on Sonoff’s web site. I think it would be helpful if those instructions were more obvious.The short version is, you have to download a script, create a folder on your Home Assistant instance, copy the script to that new folder, add a few lines to your config.yaml file, and restart your instance. THEN you can pair, and it seems to work. Its not too difficult overall, but it is a challenge figuring out thats what you need to do.I also reccomend looking into the blueprint that is out there for automations. If you search for “SZNB-01M blueprint” there is a page (that spelled the device model wrong) available from user “3jam3” that simplifies the automation process with this device. It also discusses quirks, so is a useful page.Ok, so after all of the setup work, the device does function, and seems to do it well. There might be a quirk (see what i did there) with the button timings for the double and triple click that i need to get use to, but my zigbee network seems to be getting slower these days, so its likely not the fault of this device. It feels well made, and I am hopeful that the battery life is as claimed.Overall i have high hopes for this device. So far so good, but it would be nice if the setup weren’t quite such a pain.

The orb shape is compact (about 2x2x0.9 inches) and feels premium with a nice clicky tactile feedback on each of the four buttons.Key highlights that impress:🔄 16 trigger combinations – Single, double, triple press + long press on each of the 4 buttons give tons of options. Set one for “movie mode” (lights dim + TV on), another for “good night” routine, etc. Actions register reliably and quickly.🧲 Magnetic split base is brilliant – The included magnetic mount sticks securely to the wall (adhesive or screws), but the button detaches easily to use as a portable remote. I bought this as it closely resembles the Hue Tap Dial which I’m using and I’d rather not have a multitude of different looking switches dotted around the house.After battling a little with Chat GPT I’ve managed to create a Hubitat Device Driver (code available on the Hubitat community) for it that supports push, double-tap, triple-tap and hold. Observations:- The device has a nice weight/premium feel to it- Closely resembles the Hue Tap Dial (without the rotating bezel)- Marginally larger than the Hue Tap Dial so better suited to replace a UK 1 Gang light switch.- Very responsive

This is well made, responsive, and was straightforward to pair in Home Assistant (HA) on my existing Zigbee network using ZigbeeMQTT.Once paired, it exposes battery level and link quality, along with the four button press actions. In HA you can then create automations that trigger on the single_button_X_action events (see screenshots).The physical button feels surprisingly solid and puck-like. The overall quality is good and it’s easy to mount. My only real reservation is the battery compartment cover design in relation to mounting orientation.The cover uses a typical coin-style cut-out to open and close it. When fitted to the wall mounting plate, this cut-out also defines the button’s orientation and prevents rotation unless you deliberately tightening or loosening it. The quirk here is that what you expect to be button one can end up being button four if the unit is mounted upside down. Visually it still looks correct, and it’s only the subtle dot markings that indicate which button is which. Additional labelling will help, but it’s no longer as clean looking then.I would have preferred a locating pin or keyed design* so it could only be mounted in a consistent orientation without thinking about it. In a house with mixed tolerance for smart devices, even small usability friction can become a reason not to use something. Your mileage may vary.*For the ultimate utility, if this notch section was something that can be punched with a screwdriver or perhaps friction fit into place it would mean it be used with or without that feature. A pipedream perhaps, but SONOFF do innovate so finger crossed.Very practical and convenient in what it does. The mounting quirk is the reason for the four-star rating for my use.

Für den wohl meist genutzten, oder geplanten Einsatz mit “Home Assistant” gilt:Doesn’t work with Home Assistant.Das war zunächst, wie in vielen Rezensionen, auch meine Überschrift.Aber ACHTUNG!Ich gebe dem “SONOFF Orb 4-in-1 Zigbee Smart Scene Button SNZB-01M“,für den Einsatz in HA, 2 bis 5 Sterne. 4 Sterne offiziell für das Amazon-System, ihr sucht bitte für Euch die passende Variante nach der Rezension und Eurem Bedürfnis aus.Für andere Integrationen gilt das nicht!Ich habe auch einige Fotos als Unterstützung mit angehangen.Die Installation in HA ist SONOFF typisch sehr einfach, und über einen der typischen und „amtlichen“ SONOFF Sticks als Gateway auch schnell ausgeführt.Am SNZB-01M den Batterieschutz entfernen, oder dann nach Ablauf der Koppelungszeit, den Reset-Button drücken. In HA unter Zigbee neues Gerät hinzufügen.Wie üblich ist das Gerät schnell einsatzbereit und verwendbar.Hier aber nur bedingt.Es gibt keine Entitäten, oder Möglichkeiten die 4 Taster mit je 4 Optionen, zu verwenden.Denn:Die Integration funktioniert nur per Script.Dieses finden wir, wenn überhaupt, etwas versteckt auf der SONOFF Homepage.Hier:… wollte ich es euch einfach machen, musste aber auf Grund der Richtlinien den Link leider entfernen. Mit etwas Suche ist es aber zu finden.Die Datei downloaden, entpacken, / extrahieren. In diesem Ordner befindet sich ein Installation Guide und die Datei: SNZB-01M.py.#In HA den „File editor“ öffnen. Neuen Ordner erstellen. Speichern.Diesen (neuen Ordner) öffnen und neue Datei „SNZB-01M.py“ aus Downloads hinzufügen und speichern.Dann „configuration.yaml“ im „File editor“ öffnen und laut Installation Guide,unten bündig den Code einfügen. Speichern. HA neu starten.Jetzt können wir am Gerät „SNZB-01M“, „Neue Automation erstellen“ und alle verfügbaren Tasten und Tastenkombinationen und benutzen.Wir benutzen das „Gerät als Trigger“ und können 16 Optionen auswählen.Hier können wir auch Szenen auslösen und Geräte schalten.Dankt mir später.#Wer verständlicher Weise, hier nicht über Erfahrung, oder Kenntnis verfügt, Scripte zu installieren, oder yaml-Code einzufügen, kann an dieser Stelle abbrechen und wie viele andere, 1-2 Sterne vergeben. Hier wird der Button schlicht nicht einsetzbar sein.Des Weiteren ist der relativ neue SNZB-01M geeignet um direkt, ohne Umweg, bestimmte smarte Glühbirnen und Leuchtmittel, hauptsächlich Phillips HUE, aber auch IKEA und andere, direkt über TouchLink oder Bindings zu koppeln und steuern.Das funktioniert sehr gut, bietet aber nur eingeschränkte Möglichkeiten.Ebenfalls eine valide Option ist die Nutzung mit der bekannten und bewährten EWE-Link App. Hier sind ebenfalls nicht alle Triggeroptionen verfügbar.Es gibt Duale Protokollunterstützung (Zigbee & eWeLink-Remote) zum einfachenWechseln zwischen dem Zigbee-Modus und dem eWeLink-Fernbedienungsmodus.Die Modi werden im Button per Schiebeschalter ausgewählt. Simultaner Betrieb ist nicht möglich.Außer Frage steht auch hier, SONOFF typisch, die hohe Qualitativ in Verarbeitung und Materialanmutung. Alles macht wie gewohnt einen sehr guten Eindruck. Es gibt keine scharfen Kanten, oder gar Grate und auch keine störenden Reste der Herstellungsformen. Nichts lässt sich zusammendrücken, oder verbiegen, nichts klappert im Inneren.Alle angedachten Funktionen, Einsatzmöglichkeiten sowie Daten und Werte sind in der Beschreibung gut dargestellt und können bestätigt werden.(Es fehlt nur die wichtigste Angabe zur richtigen Installation der Triggeroptionen).Bitte schaut zusätzlich auch auf die SONOFF-Homepage für detaillierte und aktualisierte Angaben. Für diesen Punkt wären 5 Sterne gut vergeben.Im November 2025 erschienen, gibt es Anfang (Januar) 2026 keine vernünftigen Dokumentationen. Vorsicht vor 5 Sterne Bewertungen und klatschenden Influencern, die zwar hoch begeistert sind, aber den Button offensichtlich noch nie benutzt haben und sogar völlig falsche Aussagen treffen. Das reicht von 20 Triggeroptionen mit 4 Tastern bis zu einfacher Integration in HA und Auswahl der Modi in den Entitäten. Alles Humbug und keinesfalls ernst zu nehmen.Ich kann den Button aus Überzeugung und Erfahrung empfehlen und werde mir noch einen weiteren zulegen.Es gibt jedoch klare Einschränkungen die in eigenen Möglichkeiten definiert sind.Meine größte und wichtigste Empfehlung ist, die SONOFF Webseite des SNZB-01M Button zu besuchen und alle in Frage kommenden Bedingungen genau mit dem eigenen Bedarf und den eigenen Möglichkeiten abzustimmen. Die Webseite wird regelmäßig und gut aktualisiert, zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt treffen viele der hier genannten Punkte möglicherweise nicht mehr zu. Da ich selber noch weiter mit dem Button arbeite und Programmierungen ändere, gibt es bei Bedarf hier auch Updates.Insgesamt 4 Sterne wegen der unzureichenden Artikelbeschreibung in Bezug zur Integration in HA.Der “SONOFF Orb 4-in-1 Zigbee Smart Scene Button SNZB-01M“ ist ein sehr vielseitig eisetzbarer und zukunftsorientierter, kabelloser Smart Button, erfordert aber Kenntnisse der jeweiligen Systeme.
