Great Invisible Smart Lock for HomeKit – Works Well After Setup
I picked up the Level Lock+ (Matter) version because I wanted something that doesn’t look like a bulky smart lock on the door—it’s literally invisible from the outside, just a normal deadbolt. Installation was straightforward once I got the hang of it (took about 30-45 minutes, including aligning everything properly). The Matter-over-Thread support is a big plus; it connects reliably to my HomeKit setup via Thread, and response times are fast—no noticeable lag when locking/unlocking from the Home app, Siri, or my Apple Watch.Apple Home Key works seamlessly now—tap my phone or watch to unlock, which is super convenient for quick entries. It integrates nicely with other Matter platforms too if I ever expand beyond Apple, but HomeKit is my main ecosystem and it’s solid here. Battery life on the single CR2 has been decent so far (a few months in and still going strong), and the auto-lock feature is reliable. The only issue I ran into was during initial setup with HomeKit—it wouldn’t pair properly the first couple times, and I had to do a full factory reset twice. Once that was sorted, no problems since. Level’s support docs were helpful for troubleshooting that part.Overall, it’s been a reliable upgrade from my old visible smart lock. Discreet design, good smart features, and worth it if you value the clean look and HomeKit integration. 5 stars (with the setup hiccup noted).

The Perfect Smart Lock
The Level Lock is a fantastic addition to my smart home. It was easy to set up with the app and works seamlessly with HomeKit and Siri Shortcuts. The lock itself is really high quality, secure, and has a super smooth and clever design. It comes with two well-made keys, and installation was straightforward—any minor adjustments were just due to my door, not the lock. What really makes it shine is the automation. I’ve set it up with a Hue motion sensor so that I barely even have to touch the lock anymore. It unlocks when I walk into the room and works perfectly with geofencing too. Overall, it’s not just a lock—it’s a fully integrated smart solution that makes life easier. Absolutely a five-star product in my book.

Integration doesn’t work
The lock quality is great and it looks nice! It is also easy to install. That said, the Bluetooth, WiFi, and HomeKit integration are so terrible that there was an error every time I tried to connect the lock. I got a few to redo my whole house, but after the first one not able to work remotely, I decided to return all of them. Very risky if you are planning on remote access being 100% – you will lock yourself out. Not sure if I got a dud, but I do not want to be locked out!

Connected Security
One of the most striking features of the Level Lock+ is its discreet and seamless profile. Unlike other smart locks, the Level Lock+ is installed within the door, preserving the original look of your home’s entryway.Installation is very straightforward. With minimal tools and expertise required, users can easily retrofit their doors with this intelligent lock, making it an ideal choice for both homeowners wanting piece of mind and convince from the smart features.Functionality-wise, the Level Lock+ includes a lot of the features you would expect. The app allows you to conveniently control access to their homes remotely, monitor lock status, and receive real-time notifications. It also is compatible with leading smart home ecosystems. Setting up with my existing Google Home was seamless. In terms of performance, the Level Lock+ has been reliable and responsive. The lock operates smoothly and quietly. The one down side is the battery performance, it uses a CR2 battery, and despite claims of a year, expect a few months at best with heavy usage. The Level Lock is a brilliant concept if your absolute priority is an invisible smart lock. The design is top-notch. However, the battery concerns and the concerning hollow bolt design (where the battery lives!) are things I would like to see In never versions. But even with those concerns the benefits the core functionality of smart lock and the ability to retrofit existing doors.

Works alone great, looks great, smart home integration iffy
This is a great-looking lock that doesn’t look like the usual bulky smart locks. It also comes in polished brass, which was important to match the rest of my home. Too many other brands don’t offer that option. It was very easy to install, and even with my slightly questionable door from the very early 20th century, it works great.Using it with Apple Home Key works perfectly every time. I feel good knowing that I can use my phone if I happen to forget my keys, and I like having the ability to use a key in case the lock battery dies. I don’t think that will be a problem since it alerts you to the battery level through the app, and it’s extremely easy to replace the battery. The only problems I’ve had are with Apple Home integration and the touch-to-lock/unlock feature. Even with the Level Connect wifi bridge, frequently, the lock shows “no response” in the Apple Home app, but if I open it in the Level app and then check the Apple Home app, it’s back. I also get alerts from Apple Home long after a lock or unlock event has occurred, but I don’t know why.The touch feature has failed the last few times I tried it, I guess because the app doesn’t know my location at the moment I’m trying it or something. I can just tap my iPhone to the door and it locks/unlocks immediately, though.I wish Level had Thread in the lock rather than the Connect bridge. Wi-Fi has never been as reliable or fast for smart home devices as Thread, at least for me.I do recommend this lock and your mileage may vary with the issues I’ve encountered. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this lock.

I purchase this because I wanted to use the Apple home key, after multiple attempts of connecting to home kit failed, I called Level support and after they checked the serial number and home kit code, they confirmed that while the box and package are indeed Lock + however the actual physical lock and hardware is level lock touch (the cheap one)! I paid $540 plus tax to receive an$250 item!
