    WOW!!
Through Star’s excellent writing I was privileged to be allowed a glimpse into her and Marks’ life living with a growing special needs child. I don’t have a special needs child so I can’t say that I understand what they go through day to day, but reading this book I could feel the emotional roller-coaster she rode as she grew past her earlier “very raw, real, non-politically correct feelings” to being able to answer the “Why Me?” question I’m sure we’d all ask in her position. It is my belief that as Star, grew with her son and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) she found her “Life Purpose”.What an excellent Read!!!!

Impressive Voice of Parent w/ Special Needs Child
Excellent writing of a very personal journey. Impressed and a little scary with the openness of the very talented author. Highly recommended for anyone, especially parents dealing with a special needs child. This covers a wide range of internal thoughts and feelings.

    very honest.
this sbook is a really honest look into what the author, and any other parents migh go through once their child has been diagnosed with an incurable disease. and while it helps to validate all the outrageous things youre feeling, she also offers exercises to assist with the coping process. i would definitely suggest this book to other parents in similar situations.

    Loving a Child with a Life-Altering Disease
Unless your life has somehow been touched by Muscular Dystrophy (MD) directly, the only time you probably think about the disease is during the Labor Day Telethon hosted annually by Jerry Lewis since the mid-Sixties.For this reason, may I suggest that, before tuning in to this year’s fundraiser, you read I Hate Muscular Dystrophy: Loving a Child with a Life-Altering Disease. Half-heartfelt memoir/half how-to primer, the book was written by Star Bobatoon whose son, Hurricane, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in 2001 at the tender age of 5.Eventually, the author came to make peace with the “exasperating characteristic” of DMD, having learned how to overcome depression in the face of his dire prognosis, Ms. Bobatoon lays out a 4-point plan, augmented by exercises and affirmations, for other families struggling to come to grips with MD or any other seemingly all-consuming affliction.Read the full review and more book reviews from AALBC.com on your Kindle Edition

    Joy cometh in the morning
I Hate Muscular Dystrophy is not just a book about a mother’s love but also a useful guide. The author shares her pain, her insecurities and also their moments of joy as she discovers all trials and tribulations must have a divine purpose. It is the remarkable testimony of what a mother’s love, determination and faith can accomplish in spite of overwhelming challenges. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone… and especially those of us who loves “a child with a life – altering disease. A must read!

    Applause is Deserved
While I do not have a child with MD, I could still identify with the author’s story. I laughed and cried because this book is so honest. Star Bobatoon deserves applause for this refreshingly personal account. I recommend purchasing multiple copies of this book and handing them out as gifts…I believe it would serve that purpose to those who love a child with a life-altering disease. Thank you for sharing!

    Honest Help
This book is written from such an honest place it made me cry.Star shares her many wonderful tips and advice that she learned from her own life (like the S.T.A.R. principal) to help anyone dealing with a child with a life altering disease. She also shares her mistakes showing all of us that we can dig down deep and get the courage to make a better life for the whole family.I wish her much success in helping families around the world in the future.
