Straight-forward, clear direction to resetting or reviewing one’s physical life strategies.
This book is well-written, very well organized, and full of clear, practical advice on getting and keeping one’s body as healthy as possible. I particularly liked the sections dealing with the following topics: understanding root causes of chronic diseases, upfront listing of limitations of this book and approach to health, examples of dramatic health improvements by individuals, how to deal with “temptations and cravings” (learned some key things here!), how to maintain motivation long-term, and key components of a plant-based diet. This is an excellent overview of maintaining a maximally healthy body as modified by each of us individuals for our own particular needs. It is a great “must read” for those beginning on this journey AND for people well-versed in it as a great review and check-up list. Highly recommended!

Super Informative and Easy to Read.
I found the book to be super informative and easy to read with lots of helpful information that was very well documented. In fact there’s over 400 sources referenced in the back of the book, which I thought was overwhelming, but I get it – in that the author was trying to make sure everything was properly sourced and well documented. The author does a fantastic job at explaining many other diseases caused by poor diet and lifestyle choices, not just heart disease. There’s quite a few pages in the book that gives statistics on how many people die each year from various diseases and while I knew some of those issues were high death rates, I was surprised to see just how high those numbers actually are. More importantly, it’s really sad that most people are not aware that many of these deaths can be prevented simply by changing our diet and lifestyle habits. The book does a great job explaining that if we can change our eating habits and adopt a more healthier lifestyle, many of these diseases can not only be avoided but reversed in some cases like diabetes and heart disease and other vascular problems. I’m not a doctor, but I’ve read a lot of books on the subject and I think the author is definitely on point and accurate so I can highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to know more about getting healthy and possibly reversing heart disease or reversing diabetes.

Great starter for for anyone seeking health through whole-food plant-based eating.
The author talks very clearly and boldly about having a healthy heart, and provides reputable research to support claims. I really appreciated the motivational and accessible tone, actionable advice, and focus on reversal, not just prevention. There’s a lot of hope for true change in here! The author connects a lot of disorders to hearth health and empowers readers to not just be dependent on medication. The suggestions center around a plant-based whole food nutrition, as well as exercise, providing practical steps the reader can take.

Provides convincing material to consider changing your lifestyle for better health
Wow. Where do I start. I had a friend who was a vegan because of issues with PETA, an advocate for animal rights. however, I later learned that health played an important role as a vegan. No, this book does not advocate that being a vegan is a must to control you arteries, but it does provide a viable and convincing options for this lifestyle. Not a technical book, but rather a conversation with the author who knows what he’s talking about. It provides good advice, start up recipes that anyone can follow, and options to better care for your body. This is especially important for seniors who need to be more careful with their lifestyle choices.

Very informative read about the connection of diet and disease and how to improve it
This book has a wealth of information for so many different diseases with case studies and statistics to show that the American diet really does contribute to so much physical problems . It goes further into different whole foods and how they can help eliminate and improve disease along with tips on exercise and motivation. Its science based and is very interesting and empowering to know that you can change your trajectory with simple diet changes

One Star and That’s Being Very Generous
The author states of himself: “Robert Enochs is a self-educated researcher, writer, and thinker with a passion for exploring the complex intersections of history, politics, and society.” I find this book somewhat useless, because it’s the author’s opinion and not from a person with any medical or nutritional education. Further, the book is highly redundant. The book repeats over and over again eat whole grains, seeds, nuts, vegetables and fruit, with some tofu thrown in for good measure. This book could have been written on one page. His grocery list is comprised of only 20 items! There isn’t a chapter of recipes, or any real discussion on preparing food. There’s a lot of discussion on various illnesses, but according to Enochs, every one of them can be helped by eating whole grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and tofu. Of course this dangerous. For instance, kidney disease is made worse by these vegetables and fruits: Avocados, whole wheat bread, brown rice, bananas, and oranges, just to name a few of his “recommended” foods. No mention of that because Enochs is not a medical expert nor nutritional expert and his advice can be dangerous.Just be aware that this book is not all fact and it’s at best, only a lay person’s opinion and interpretation of the references. One star-and that’s being very generous.

This book starts very well and has lots of good info. I did find however that it was missing some personal anecdotes or short personal stories so that we could learn from people who applied some of this info. Also, approx 50 pages of the book at the end are all references which isn’t great. I understand references are used however prob a better way than to have 1/4 of the book listing references.
