Fabulous Resource!
Thank you very much for this tremendous, and much needed resource. As a parent of a child on the Autism spectrum I know how hungry for information I was when my child was first identified as at risk. It is difficult to determine a good approach when there is so much information available, and the stakes feel so very high. Dr. Rosenblatt has been my child’s doctor for the last 9 years. He has helped me make choices based upon evidence based research. I now work with many families with children like mine, and I am delighted to have this insightful and informative guide to recommend.

Grandparent Education
We are grandparents of a child who is ASD. I wanted to read the book because I needed to know how to deal with her issues when we are together and the book has been priceless. Though there are a lot of examples of children who are exhibiting one thing or another, it also is very helpful in giving directions about differing plans of action. Of course, that isn’t my decision but nevertheless is really good to know about.Oops! You also will find yourself identifying those characteristics in adults. 🙂

Informative manual for parents of children on the autism spectrum
First I have to qualify my review by stating that one of the authors is my son, Paul. That said, he and his co-author wrote a comprehensive and informative manual for parents with a child diagnosed on the autism spectrum. My son is not only a pediatrician whose practice on U of Utah is limited to children with developmental disorders, but he and his wife (also a pediatrician) are raising a son with autism. I believe this manual is an invaluable tool for parents.

Recommended by our Diagnosing Doctors
This book was recommended directly in the 11-page diagnosis we received for our son when first diagnosed with Autism. It’s comprehensive and presents stories from real cases that helps us to relate to what’s written. It’s written so anyone can understand it but I find it difficult to go through merely because of the emotions that it invokes as I read it. Because of this, I’m slowly getting through it. Because of this, I actually ended up buying both the book and the Kindle version because with the Kindle version it’s always with me and I can nibble at the content wherever I am.

First book to read if your child is diagnosed with autism
I wish this had been the first book I read after my son was diagnosed with autism. Very straightforward and informative and a reliable source from the American association of pediatrics at a time when there is so much misleading information and pseudoscience on the internet about autism.

Lots of info!
I have a 2-year-old son and husband with Autism. When my son was diagnosed, the evaluator suggested this book. I really liked the information that was presented in it. It has a lot of current research info, as well as current resources. I also liked the stories in it of other people’s experiences with Autism.

Best book: for info about the future
I have a 13 year old and we have been needing info about what comes next. Setting for the future, before and after school and all services end. This is a worry many parents have and this book help ease my mind.
