A parents must read!
The introduction I loved because if you are a parent with a newly diagnosed child, it is encouraging and empowering. It shows how some of the most talented people in the world were autistic. The information packed into this book was so helpful to me especially dealing with a child 10 years old newly diagnosed with ASD (high functioning) I decided to also purchase a few of his other books which I recommend those reading, to check out

100% worth reading
The best book I’ve ever read. It provides honest, useful advise and, most importantly, encouragement. Additionally, it is encouraging to know that you started the journey off right by making a few wise decisions since it gives you hope that you are not alone in facing ups and downs. The author provides examples and homework assignments at the conclusion of each chapter to help the material come to life and breaks it down in a way that is incredibly simple to follow. Every parent should be provided this book as soon as they learn their child has autism, and it should be required reading for anyone considering a profession working with autistic children.

Easy to read, great information
This is a great book for parents, soon to be parents, teachers, and anyone who has a child they care about in their lives. The best part of the book is the distinction of autism in comparison to other disorders, creating a clear picture of what is common between autism and other mental health differnces differences that may look the same

wow! incredibly thorough and helpful for a parent of a newly diagnosed child
It’s overwhelming to received a diagnosis of ASD, but this book has been very helpful in helping understand how we can best parent our developing child. It’s not often that I purchase a hard copy after reading the kindle version, but this is a book I anticipate returning to frequently and want sitting on my shelf!

Not as helpful as a different similar guide
I bought this and the Autism Parenting Guide for All Ages, hoping they would both bring different useful information. I found the other book to be extremely helpful. I found this book to be a little helpful but also contained some inaccurate information such as in the beginning when it says Rett Syndrome is a type of autism. The way advice was worded in this book was also less empowering and empathetic.

Excellent layout of topic with great, step by step directions for parents and other caregivers!
This book is perfect for anyone who may come into contact with a child on the autistic spectrum. Bass provides a detailed definition of different types of autism as well as related diagnoses with similar symptoms. He also lays out a wide variety of great step by step strategies to help caregivers manage ASD behaviors that interfere with daily life, as well as ideas on how to help children with ASD communicate and build better relationships with others.

This book is a comprehensive guide for those new to the mental health field or parents navigating an ASD diagnosis for their children. It covers misinformation, accurate information, potential misdiagnoses, and offers proper techniques for various situations when working with kids. Additionally, it provides recommendations for parents on how to manage their child’s diagnosis and take care of themselves for more effective assistance. The use of simple language makes it accessible to individuals with diverse educational backgrounds.

Well I’ve decided not to continue reading this books as it’s simply full of inaccuracies, which quite frankly I don’t approve of.🧩Autism can be caused by the environment including air pollution. No it can’t.🧩Autism is diagnosed age 3. Not true, can be much earlier.🧩If a child on the spectrum doesn’t speak by age 10, they will never speak. Not true and this quite frankly is so negative and scares parents.🧩Autistic people cannot show empathy. Not true.🧩By 12 months of age, babies know which emotion to show correctly in relation to a situation. Not quite true that one, my child Psychology diploma would disagree with you.🧩Raising a child with Autism can increase a parents chance of heart disease. Way to scare us thanks!.🧩Consult a doctor to run a metabolic test to see which nutrients your child lacks and supply such things as vitamin B1, Acetylcholine (support the nervous system), these can help to reduce your child’s over exposure to the environment and help reduce stimming. So basically stop stims then? Seems like another ABA trick. No thanks.🧩ABA, applied behaviour analysis. Already a big no.This is only a handful of things I simply don’t agree with and aren’t accurate. My children are not broken by toxins, vaccines or even infections while I was pregnant (yes that was also in there!). Autism is genetic, studies have proven this. This book makes you fell like you don’t work correctly and need to be fixed.No. My children’s Autism is embraced. They can stim, obsess and express to help them be unique.
