Food Refusal and Avoidant Eating in Children, including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions
$29.95
Many children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a restricted dietary range, and this book provides parents with advice and training on how to deal with this condition and achieve a healthier and more balanced diet. Now described as Avoidant or Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), it is due to sensory hypersensitivity, and it can impact upon the health of the child, upon the family, and upon social integration.
Based upon successful training packages the authors provide for parents and professionals, this book enables the reader to understand the condition and work with it, gradually increasing the range of food a child is able to eat. It includes ‘box outs’ with case studies, points of interest and action points to make this an accessible and resourceful read.

Well written book. Structured. Does not spend forever in quoting research papers but rather focuses on practical tips to try with little ones, right from infancy to adolescents. Worth picking up if you’re a parent and struggling.

I am not often leaving the reviews but this is the one I must do.I just received it today and already red half. As a parent of child with ARFID we just found few weeks ago this is so helpful. It explains everything and give the clear idea of what and why your child might respond to food the way they are.It is written by professionals but also very clear and easy language so it is something you can read without being a specialist. The best buy in the past few months. MUST HAVE!!!

Our Son has a problematic eating disorder. We attended a seminar delivered by the Author of this book and we felt so much better informed and educated afterwards. We bought the book as a reference manual and reminder of the things we had learned at the seminar to implement the techniques with our child. If your child has real problems with food then this is an essential read and reference, cannot recommend highly enough.
