Catherine Truong –
great book by a great author!
Getting the news that i had diabetes was really rough and flipped my life upside down. as someone who enjoys food so much i thought that diabetes would be the end of that enjoyment. following mary ellen on social media, watching her videos, and getting this book restored my hope and showed me that my diabetes would not ruin my life. the recipes are delicious!

Great easy to follow and healthy recipes!
My A1C has been at prediabetic levels this year, so I’m trying an ounce of prevention. I’ve made a few of the recipes in this book and so far they are very easy and made mostly with ingredients I had in my kitchen already. They turned out delicious. It didn’t feel like making sacrifices. In fact, my teenager even approved.

Not for me
I’m not diabetic, but want to eat like a diabetic because I think it is a healthy diet. I bought this book to see if I could find some great recipes. There are some great recipes in the book; just none that really interest me.

Rethink your Carb’s.
This author describes a new (to me) way to look at carbs. My current dietitian has guided me down a traditional path for sugar control. Cut out some foods, restrict intake on others. This book challenges some of the restrictions – it makes you look at what you are eating and what you are eating with it. Fat Fiber and Protean will have an affect on how fast the sugar is absorbed into your bloodstream. This means that in some foods that were on my do not eat list might now be ok to eat. From what I have learned about diabetes there is not a one solution for everyone. I fully expect to see some of these recipes to spike my sugar, others will slow down the absorption process and I may not see a spike. This is the first book I’ve seed that at least gives me an option. I plan on updating this review after I’ve tried some recipes to report how well it’s working.

Excellent Cookbook
I have tried many recipes from this book and I have many more earmarked for future use. You won’t regret the decision to purchase!

Some nice recipes but I was disappointed at the number that contained maple syrup or similar (not particularly diabetic friendly!) and sweet pudding recipes. A ‘recipe’ on how to lay cheese and crackers on a plate seemed a bit of a space-waster too. Maybe ok for someone on a low sugar regime but not much there for me as a T2 diabetic, especially as some recipes were quite carb-heavy.

I got for my papa because his blood sugar was spiking and I made the chicken parmesan It was good

Was struggling with diet after my diagnosis. We have tried several recipes, all excellent, for everybody not just me. Not only are the recipes excellent but your explanation of how all the pieces fit together in your diet really helped me to understand what was going on in my body. Thank you
