Worth the money!
This cheap little thing works well enough that I’m hearing in stereo for the first time in 2 years [I’m 43, if that’s germane to your consideration of this review]. I’ve got 90% hearing loss in my right ear, and was so impressed by this that I bought one for my mom for mother’s day. It seems to chew through batteries quickly, but they’re cheap so I don’t mind replacing them.It does amplify ambient sounds as well, so not much improvement in loud areas, but I can keep up with my girlfriend’s family conversations in Spanish [which I’m not fluent in] as long as they aren’t playing music at the same time 5 or 6 people are talking. Without background music, no problem.Considering I got a call yesterday from a company that wanted 5k for a set, $40 is money well spent until the covid19 stuff passes and I can get into the VA to get one.All in all, it’s NOT a $5000 hearing aid, but it’s small and discrete and I’d buy it again. I’m very satisfied with the purchase.

Great product, except……
The product is great in comfort, etc. But, I wanted to change out the larger dome that was on it for a smaller one, but could not get the smaller dome to go on the device. For some strange reason, it seems as if the hole on the dome where it’s supposed to fit on the device is too small. I tried and tried, but no luck. So, more than likely, I will be returning it and going back to the hearing aid that I’ve been using for the past 4 years. I just wanted to try this to see how it would work.

Worse of seven hearing amplifiers I have tried
I have used, or attempted to, seven hearing amplifiers from Amazon in the past five years. Most have worked just fine for me, but lasted less than a year. Twice I tried to buy the same as had worked for me, but they were no longer available. The previous to this one worked fine but lasted five or six weeks. Too bad. This one, which I am returning, however, was terrible from the get go. If I adjusted the volume so it would be of any use, it amplified some sounds such that they were unbearable. For instance, water coming out of the faucet sounds like Niagara Falls, standing next to a microwave oven was impossible as it made it sound like a jet engine, and just about any impact sounded like a hammer pounding on a piece of steel. Terrible frequency response.

Only problem I have with these is that they don’t last long After a few months, they just quit working but at such a reasonable price no problem to replace. They work great otherwise.

Good for what it is, and isn’t…
Pro: It’s a workable in-canal hearing-aid-like device. It’s constructed on par with the custom molded hearing aids I’ve worn in the past. It’s got an immense amount of gain available, way more than I need. I’ve been using it for more than a week on the battery that came with it. If you’ve ever owned a similar hearing aid or amplifier, it’s setup is simple enough and familiar. It’s stupid cheap compared to the fraudulent monopoly prices of “approved” hearing instruments.Con: The fact that it’s NOT tailored to my personal audiogram is apparent. It’s pretty good, but a “real” hearing aid would be much better. The worst flaw is it seems to clip at high frequencies, causing a loud popcorn-popping like noise with sounds like running water and food frying that contain lots of peaky highs. The microphone is strangely directional, causing it to sometimes pick up specific sounds very loudly out of proportion to the environment, leading to odd, disembodied noises that seem to be located inside my ear rather than the room around me. It’s got so much gain available that I’m running it at about 10%, which makes adjusting the level somewhat touchy.Keep in mind that some of the above criticisms could be due to interaction with my individual hearing, and that your results will almost certainly be different.All told, it’s what you should expect for less than $40. There are amplified hearing protection devices available for several hundred dollars a pair, some even featuring custom molding to your ear canals. They are, of course, not possible to configure for your hearing, but are fully digital and have various selectable modes that might happen to match your needs better. I may try some of those next, however this is usable for now!

They work
For the price it works fine. My hearing aides don’t really work now. Repair isn’t covered by my insurance. Just to have them looked at is about 3 hundred….. pros they work. There is feedback at times. But the price I wasn’t expecting much. Pleasantly surprised. I don’t have to crank tv anymore. It is very small and a pain to adjust volume or fit. It comes with 3 wax filters. Unfortunately I go through these quick. Always have with old hearing aides. And currently can’t buy more. I emailed company and they said wax filters that fit this hearing aide will be available. I am waiting until then and will buy the more expensive ones that have in ear volume control. These you have to take out ear an use really really small screw driver. It does come magnifying glass that helps. But still a pain.
