Brokenness is not a sign of weakness. Rather, it is a sign of strength. Scars are a sign of healing, of hard work that has been done. Walking through life’s fires, it is inevitable that you will get burned. But God can make something beautiful from those ashes. Broken people are the most genuine people out there. They don’t live their lives as if nothing is the matter with them. In Beautifully Broken, Ruth revisits the trauma of her childhood as a missionary kid in Nigeria, details her search for her biological parents, and shares her brave journey of living with ALS. Ruth’s message to those who have been shattered by life’s cruelty is that God can mend broken people, making them into something beautiful. This is the story of an ordinary girl who has lived an extraordinary life.

Fascinating book about the child of missionaries
I found this book fascinating. The author tells her life story, including being brought up by missionaries in Africa and being sent to boarding school at the age of six. I chose this book to read as the author has ALS, but most of the book takes place before her ALS diagnosis. I would have liked to have heard a little more about what happened after she got ALS. However, I found her life fascinating to read about.

Remarkable story of faith, hope, love
This is a story about the author’s reflection of her life after getting diagnosed with ALS. Ruth’s remarkable story is one of unyielding faith, grit, resilience, her humanity and love of family, and so much more! This book should be read by everyone and also, to all screenwriters out there, her story would be an amazing movie!

An extraordinary life
Ruth has lived an extraordinary life. She went through trauma as a missionary kid in Nigeria, found out some uncomfortable truths about her birth parents, and was diagnosed with ALS. What would break most people hasn’t turned Ruth bitter or cynical. Instead she’s chosen to help other people as a nurse and turn her brokenness into something beautiful. If you’ve experienced life’s cruelty and looking for some peace and healing, and/or you like reading interesting and inspiring life stories, then this book is for you.
