I find some jar lids almost impossible to open. I’ve tried using those rubber discs that are meant to give you a better grip on the lid, but still some lids defy me. It’s frustrating, especially when my girlfriend asks me to open a jar she can’t get to open and I have a hard time with it myself!This Readaeer jar opener has changed that: The first jar I tried opened so easily I was almost startled.The jar opener is made of a translucent plastic (sort of like Lucite) that feels really sturdy, and it’s actually pretty cool looking. Excellent product..HERE ARE MY TIPS:1. Watch the very short video that’s up there with the pictures next to the product description before you use it. It shows exactly how easily you can open a jar using this jar opener.2. Do NOT try to open the lid like a bottle cap. This jar opener is meant to relieve the vacuum inside the jar so you can turn the lid by hand. You just want to lift up until you hear or feel the “pop” that tells you it’s done its job. Super simple. It doesn’t dent the lid or bend it.3. Make sure the little lip of the opener engages the bottom edge of the jar lid rather than the glass of the jar..I’ve given the Readeer jar opener a rating of 4 stars rather than 5 mainly because of the price point ($3.99 for one), although the price is actually pretty good if you order 2 (2 for $4.99). Prices quoted in this review are effective as of June 17, 2025, which is when I’m posting this review. I periodically go back and check on my reviews, and if I see a price change I’ll update this review..BOTTOM LINE: Yes, I definitely recommend this product with confidence.

Perfect for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis!
I originally ordered this product for my aging parents, especially for my mom who has rheumatoid arthritis. Her fingers are bent pretty bad and it’s very hard for her to grip anything.I received the product in the mail and thought “I better try this first so I can show my parents how to use it”. I, too, am one of those people that struggle opening jars. My husband is my official Jar Opener. Lol.If my husband wasn’t home and I couldn’t get a jar open, I would use one of the rubber gripper circle things(that is the official name of them). Sometimes that didn’t work and then I would cry. I needed a certain product at that time for a recipe and wasn’t able to open the jar, therefore couldn’t make the recipe.This product is amazing! Easy to hold and lightweight, perfect for anyone with arthritis. It is so easy to use and I never have to fear that I will be in the middle of a recipe and have to stop because I couldn’t open the jar.Back to my parents, they think this thing is the greatest. I loved this product so much that I bought one for myself and ordered one for my in-laws. The price is great and the amount of frustration it saves is priceless.

I hoped these would help opening stubborn jars, especially since I have arthritis. I struggled to use them and found them frustrating. Wish there were some directions that would help. It may seem obvious to the people selling it but it wasn’t t me.
