I ordered these for my elderly parents who were struggling with a step in shower. They arrived very quickly and were very easy to install. The first one we tried had such great suction that you couldn’t pull that thing off of the shower wall. The second one would fall off of the wall in about 2 hours. We are exchanging them for two more. Hopefully the two new ones work as good as the first one we installed. If they do I will change my review to 5 stars. The first one has been attached for over a week and is still holding tight.After asking to return the defective one they were sent another pair before the return so they could be safe. That is great customer service. They were also sent some instructions to help with the defective one and it now works as it should. My parents are very pleased with these grab bars. They to hold the shower wall so tight that they try to pull them off to check them and cannot remove them. I would think these instructions would be sent with the bars to avoid this. I hope they will in the future. Thanks for your customer service.

Depends on surface
I bought these for 2 reasons. 1. they have indicators to show whether stable or not 2. Mostly good reviews.They work as stated. I use them in the shower that has 12×24″ inch porcelain tile. They grip well at first, but after hours, especially on one of them, the indicator goes from green to red. While in green they work very well and I like them.I think the suction gripping doesn’t last because even though the tile is non-porous, it is not as smooth as glass and may not be entirely “flat”. This part is very hard to tell, but by rubbing hands across the tile, you can feel very tiny indents in the tile. Also, unlike glass, there are very tiny ripples on the surface of the tile.That I think allows air to enter after hours of being on the tile. They have never fallen off…but I don have to “re-install” them every day before showering.I did buy another suction grab bar from a different brand and have that in the shower as well. From reviews, it gets higher marks, but in my shower, it does not perform any better than these. Thus, I think the tile surface is the key.For all those that complain about the bars not sticking…review in detail what your surface is that you’re putting them on. If you want lasting suction gripping, I would say that you probably need a surface similar to glass. If it’s not, then I think you’ll need to re-apply the bars every day.

Powerful suction
I put these in a shower surround with no tile crevices. Yes, I’m kind of small, 5”2” and 125 lbs., but I have ms and will use all my weight to stand up in the shower, and to get in and out. When I first saw these, I thought oh no they’re just suction. Well, I was so wrong about that. I did use the directions, and the green symbol that shows that the suction is good, and you know what? It’s a powerful! There is no slippage, there is no feeling of coming apart from the wall with all weight-bearing on it. Very very strong. And very affordable being that I didn’t have to get a bar that uses screws etc. Now, I know a question might be can I put this on a dry wall. I can’t say for sure. But I do know that when I first got it it just randomly plunked it near the toilet, then I was flabbergasted when I couldn’t remove it! Then we did as they said and it was removed. So while I don’t use it that way, I can say that just by accident it showed how powerful it was going to be.

Red and green safety indicator not good.
I am a 200 pound individual in pretty good shape and following the instructions for this item I find that the suction is very good but the indicators do not work like they’re supposed to. The red indicater is supposed to turn green by way of pushing and adding pressure before securing the suction cup latches. Green indicates proper suction and secured to the wall. They barely move! I purchased this item so that my mother may safely take a shower but skeptical as to how they may perform so I will try them first before allowing my mother to try. I hate to find out the item failed as she fell in the shower. A follow-up review will be posted.Follow-up review:Look for something else. One out of the two won’t hold very well after first week. It’s been over a month since purchasing and second one starting to fail.
