Beautiful and strong.
I am physically disabled, and getting out of the bath tub is quite literally the most dangerous part of my day. I got this so that I can be safer about it, and have something to hang on to if I lose my balance or get light-headed as I climb out.This thing is a solid beast, yet remains very pretty. The knurling for a grip is very good at providing a lot of grip without cutting into the skin, even while wet, all while keeping its attractive appearance. I can completely stand on the bar and it doesn’t feel even close to giving way. The plates that attach to the wall are solid brass, and the bar is attached to the brass plates with massive fasteners that can’t back out once the bar is installed to a wall. Were I physically able to do it, and for some weird reason wanted to, I’d literally trust this thing to hold me up if I was hanging from the side of a skyscraper.(EDIT: I have installed it) Unfortunately since I’m disabled I have not been able to install it yet- things like this are major projects for me and I usually need help which I just haven’t had available to me since I received it. Secondly I have ordered the bits I need to drill through my tile, but they won’t be here for a couple weeks yet. Still, I have no doubt in my mind that this is going to be an amazing addition to my bath, functionally as well as aesthetically. I am very much looking forward to getting it installed as soon as I’m able to, and as soon as I do and get some use out of it I’ll update my review.Edit: I have installed it and it looks beautiful. It’s amazingly helpful to have something to grab on to on the way in and out of the bath. Extremely solid. I did have to use different hardware than what came with the bar due to the construction of my house, but that’s not unexpected. I love it!

Upmarket alternative to standard grab bar
Grab bars are absolutely essential for people with disabilities, injuries, or the infirmities of advancing age. They all do the same thing, obviously, but this one has several advantages over the standard brushed stainless ones you see at the hardware store. The textured surface makes it very easy to get a secure grip, especially if you suffer from hand weakness and tend to slide about on the smoother surfaced ones. The diameter of the bar is smaller than the usual ones, which is also an advantage if your hand problems include a tendency for your fingers not to extend properly. Some people might prefer a fatter bar; I don’t find this uncomfortable to grip. Æsthetically it blends into traditional bathroom (or I suppose, bedroom or kitchen, where it might also be useful) decor, rather than announcing its presence with the hospital/care home/public restroom vibe of the steel colored ones. Any grab bar is only as good as the way it’s mounted – only to a stud or blocking in the wall, please! – and the mounting flange and supplied hardware are at least as substantial as any I’ve seen. I would highly recommend this to anyone who finds the description above to appeal to their needs or tastes.
