Sturdy and Helpful for Standing Up
The adjustable couch assist bar is a simple effective mobility aid for seniors. It’s easy to assemble and slides securely under cushions without damaging furniture. Poor quality and no assembly instructions
Ok, so first I open the box and sort all the pieces and notice that there is not assembly instructions included. I logged into Amazon to look at some picture of the product and figured out how to put it together. Once assembled, I place it under the couch cushion and tried to lift myself up. I’m 5’11” and around 200 pounds. The arms were so wobbly that I wouldn’t trust it under any pressure. The arms connect to the rest of the frame with 1 screw on either side with a plastic piece that holds it together. Definitely not safe. It is easily adjustable and the size is just right. However, the quality is not it. I wouldn’t recommend this product because I fear someone would get hurt using it.

Ok, some movement
My mom recently broke her hip, and I was on the lookout for devices that would make her life easier when she came home. In the rehab they were teaching her to use her arms to push herself up before she grabbed her walker. But that meant things like her new sofa wouldn’t work for her, so I was excited to get my hands on this!This was easy to put together and install. It simply is slid under the sofa cushion. We chose to place it on the lowest setting, as my mom is being trained to put her hands close to her body to push herself up versus grab above her. It did help her get up easily, but I did notice some movement when she put weight on it. I sat in the spot myself and had the same experience where the handles wobbled a bit.The movement is not ideal, but since we are just using this to assist her with the transition from seated to standing and not to actually *stand* up, and the sofa itself gives little resistance, we feel its sturdy enough to do the job.

I Highly Recommend
Bought this for my Grandma because she struggles with mobility. I know that this is not advertised for recliners, but I was able to make it work for her. She has a much easier time getting up AND down into her chair. Its only been 2 days since I set it up for her, but there has been a noticeable improvement. She is able to be more independent now that she can get up/down easier. This was also really easy to put together as well. It just takes a little wiggle room to figure out which measurements you want to adjust it to to fit perfectly for you.Overall, good quality. This is able to extend to be very wide, so if you have anybody that is morbidly obese, this is more likely to be useful to them as it does extend very wide to fit larger bodies more comfortably. This provides good support and can be helpful for lots of people. Overall, I rate this 5/5 stars. I highly recommend this for those with mobikity issues and the elderly.

Lightweight and adjustable, but not very sturdy with heavy weight
We ordered this mobility aid to keep in our guest room, as we have elderly family members who visit us and sometimes need a little help getting up from the bed or the couch. It was very easy to assemble in just a couple of minutes, and it slides smoothly under our mattress. It is lightweight and it is convenient that it can be dismantled quickly to put away when not in use. The handles on the safety grab rail feel a bit unsteady and not very sturdy, as they tend to move slightly when weight is applied to them. Although the height is adjustable, we set it up to the lowest height to keep the handles from wobbling. The grips are soft rubber and comfortable to grab.

Sturdy and functional
Got this for my pregnant wife, since our loveseat was a little hard for her to get out of. Assembled on the widest setting because it fit the cushion best. I don’t think I assembled it wrong, but it seems like there are more adjustment settings on the center bar than there are on the main frame, so some holes just aren’t usable. Works great regardless, and has held up well for the few weeks we’ve used it, with no signs of wear or deforming. Would recommend!

Nice flush design but we got very wobbly handles
I took off a star because the handles are very wobbly and there doesn’t seem to be any way to fix that. I mean the part that your hands are going to grab onto to lift yourself off, they move quite a bit. They were already installed when it arrived, I didn’t put them on myself, and I do not know why they move around so much, but for a product like this you don’t want anything to be shaky or wobbly at all. I chose this for my elderly father, he needs help lowering himself onto and raising himself off of furniture. The design is nice, there’s nothing at the bottom to trip over, it sits very flush against the couch. It was very easy to assemble. He’s just not in love with it because of how wobbly the handles are. Maybe I got a defective unit, no idea, but we’ll keep looking for something better.
