A valuable resource for adults with autism!
T.J. Harris’ “Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder” offers a unique and insightful perspective on how individuals with autism can navigate the complexities of adult life. This book is a refreshing departure from the typical diagnostic or therapeutic approach, instead focusing on empowering adults with autism.I particularly appreciated the author’s emphasis on developing relationships and building a support network. Harris provides practical advice and actionable steps for individuals with autism to improve their communication and social skills, which can lead to more fulfilling and meaningful relationships.Another strength of this book is its clear and concise writing style, making it easy to follow and understand. The author’s personal experience with autism gives the book an authentic voice, and I appreciated the many real-life examples throughout the text. While this book is geared toward adults with autism, I believe it is also a valuable resource for family members, educators, and healthcare providers. The author’s approach empowers individuals with autism to take control of their lives and develop the skills they need to succeed in adulthood. The book is a must-read for anyone seeking to better understand and support individuals with autism.

Harris discusses research, personal experience and suggestions for adults living with autism.
T. J. Harris’s book, Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, is an excellent blend of scientific/medical research about autism, personal experiences, and practical suggestions about living with the day-to-day challenges of neurodivergency. This book is clearly written for those with neurodivergency and those who love and live with them.Harris shares personal life experiences from childhood and later as an adult bring the perspective of someone who has always felt different from others but did not understand why or what to do about it. The book is insightful and personal. It gives positive suggestions for daily living for neurodivergent individuals and those who care about them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who struggles with everyday tasks and questions why he/she/they seem different from others and for those who have friends, family members, or acquaintances for whom they are concerned. This is an eye-opening book written from the heart by someone with compassion and firsthand knowledge about autism spectrum disorder and its challenges.

Just read Wikipedia articles or watch Youtube
I hate leaving a poor review, but this book didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know from a few youtube videos from youtubers like Paige Layle. If you want information similar to what can be found in this book, just read Wikipedia articles or watch Youtube or ask Chat GPT.Trying to be empathetic and putting myself in the shoes of a young author trying to make it in this world, I applaud her for working on this topic, and would just recommend that she seek out more people to read and critique her work before submitting to a publisher or before self-publishing. I think getting opinions and insights from others can really help her refine her craft. (But honestly, what do I know? I’m not an author or publisher.)

So beeping helpful
I really enjoyed this book. As an adult with autism, it has help me put a lot of things in prospective. It gives fact and advice, without feeling preachy. It’s pretty straightforward and I love T.J. for that. I highly recommend it.

This book sees me!!
I never considered autism as something that I might have. I decided to read this book out of curiosity, because my therapist asked me if I had ever been assessed for autism. I didn’t really think that autism fit me. As I read this book, I realized that a lot of the stuff described were things that I’ve been having trouble with for forever and didn’t even realize! It was crazy. I’m definitely going to read more about autism now and look into it for myself.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was nice and short and I read it on a train journey. It is full of practical advice from someone with lived experience.I think many people with all sorts of brains can take something from this book. For example, the idea ‘masking’. I can see how someone who is not neurotypical might feel pressured to suppress certain parts of themselves especially. But also I think many people, including those we might call neurotypicals, have this experience as well.It helped me understand even though the world is full of diversity and difference, if we are prepared to probe deeper then there are more fundamental layers. This is where we might find a want to belong, feelappreciated and to love, which are a positive, common denominator to humanity.Everyone has a unique brain, but all belong to humanity.
