Customers say

Customers find the smart hub easy to set up and consider it an indispensable addition to any smart home system, appreciating its IR blaster feature. The functionality and connectivity receive mixed feedback – while some report everything works great, others say it only works with Aqara devices and has terrible connectivity issues. Moreover, the quality, value for money, and control capability also get mixed reviews, with some finding it a great value while others consider it a piece of junk. Additionally, power loss is a significant concern, with multiple reports of the USB power connector breaking off the PCB.

Works Well With HomeKit-Aware Devices – IR Blaster A Bonus
This hub makes a solid connection to my 2.4 gHz WiFi network and provides good coverage. Most (and so far for me, all) Aqara smart items bridged through it can be addressed in HomeAssistant through the HomeKit integration. No need to bother with Matter – unless you want to. The IR blaster, however, only functions with the phone app and does not expose paired items with HomeAssistant – and that it’s only minus in my opinion. However, as I view the IR blaster as a nice bonus, and not core to the product I didn’t dock the item a star in my rating. However, if the IR blaster were to be exposed – now, that would be something special!Devices are easy to set up and this hub performs a good as advertised. It’s price point makes it a good choice for any home wanting to add good Zigbee coverage for the Aqara ecosystem. Nice. Also, note that I run this hub alongside another Zigbee coordinator (a USB stick) and both networks function without issue even though my 2.4 gHz spectrum is pretty saturated with competing networks. Again, nice!

    Aqara stands by their products.
I bought the M2 hub about a month ago opened it 2 weeks later because I was moving. Setup was a breeze, then the next day it was offline line no problem saw there was a firmware update did it worked for about 2 days now it stays offline will not reboot by hold the button. Even when unplugged and waiting to reconnect it boots back to offline. Customer service? Ha put in a ticket received a response the next day asking for information. Sent it didn’t hear back from them again until 4 days later after I put in another ticket and then they asked to connect to the hub all I have to do is go into the hub messages and give approval. Problem there’s no message. So I’m still stuck with a non functional hub.Edit 10/30.Barry was very helpful in troubleshooting the problem I was having. He went through every possible solution to get it back up and running before it was ruled dead. Aqara sent out a replacement and it works as intended. Which is good because I really like they’re products. Finished setting up my door and motion sensors. Leak detectors and plugs. I’ll be added their present sensor soon.

    Pairing issues, no problem
Works great and easy to set up, only issue is that it should already come up to date with the latest version out of the box. I was trying to connect the Aqara TM1 ceiling light but due to it being old versions, the pairing wasn’t possible. To make your life easier, just update it when you set it up 🙂

Read before you buy the M2 for your smart lock
Your smart lock will only support HomeKey and allow access management in the Home app when it is directly added as an accessory to HomeKit. Adding it using the M2 hub will not give you those features. There might be an improved response time using the M2 hub but to have all of the functionality, you need to accept a tiny bit on inconvenience: having 2 tiles in the Home app, one for the lock directly added to HomeKit and the other for the same lock added via the M2 hub. While it claimed to support Matter, it failed to provide a QR code or numerical code initially. After a reset by 10 times pressing the hub’s button, it provided the QR and numerical codes but neither of them allowed me to pair.By the way, this doesn’t have a power adapter; it only comes with a USB to micro-USB cable. The docs say, 5V1A-5V2A is what it needs. If you are not married into the Aqara ecosystem and are getting this for your U50 or U100, maybe do so only if your ATV or HomePod is not able to easily talk to the lock.

easy set up…. works really well.
After some consideration between the M2 Hub and the M3, I went for the M2 because it was on sale enough where it was worth a shot. My original goal was to pair it with some water leak sensors, but I also picked up a 3 pack of the switches to make some ‘dumb’ lamps smarter.Plugged it into ethernet, gave it power, installed app, and the rest of the process was very intuitive.Don’t forget to set a schedule to test the water leak sensors and the app will also tell you when the batteries need to be replaced.

I’m not sure why others have mentioned that’s it’s difficult to setup and configure because I had it up and running in about 2 minutes and had linked my motorised blinds (Roller Shade Driver E1) and set a schedule for them in about 5 minutes and I’ve never used such a device before. I am however very ‘tech-savey’ so maybe it’s just easy for me.I’ll update if any issues occur, but for now – excellent.
