Well, yeh… I am getting up there in age and, although I’m agile, there is no built in handle or bar in my tub/shower and sometimes the bottom is a bit slippery until I put the rubber mat down. Hanging on to this bar is the perfect remedy! I did try the suction cup style bars but they didn’t always stay suctioned to the wall (fiberglass in my case) so my friend recommended to try this type. It really makes me feel secure getting in/out with an18″ side of the tub to get over just to get in! Note to remember: if you have a fiberglass installation, be aware that tightening too much can crack the fiberglass. This is made of metal. Not heavy but definitely solid, easy and quick to install and fits on most baths. I can’t use it for the garden tub as it is curved. I recommend.
