Excellent doctor – excellent and informative book
My mom has been a patient of Dr. Kahn for many years and he is an excellent and caring physician. My mom always receives the best care and besides that, always enjoys her visits with Dr. Kahn and his staff. We are very fortunate to be able to receive such terrific care from such an outstanding doctor. For those of you who don’t have the option of being treated personally, I’m sure you’ll benefit from reading his book.

An outstanding book!
We have been sent several books related to medical practices, diet, exercise, and several books related to heart health. If you just look around a little bit, you will find several. However, Be Heart Smart: Understand, Treat, and Prevent Coronary Heart Disease by Dr. Waqar Khan is different. Many of these books we have read are written by doctors who only want to brag about their credentials and tell us about all the brilliant things they have done in their practices to miracuously save a life. Many of the doctors who write books now a days have only one tool in their toolbox. Usually that tools is a drug that they helped develop. Some doctors use most of their book to promote their practice and some unique method that you can only get from their practice. Those books will tell readers countless times how to contact their practice.Dr. Kahn is different. He tells us about multiple ways we can prevent or treat Coronary Heart Disease. Some of the treatments are surgical and the doctor describes them in layman’s terms so that almost anyone can understand what will take place.Unlike many doctors, Dr. Kahn doesn’t have an ax to grind or a particular procedure to promote. Instead, he tells us about diet, exercise, stress reduction and other simple things we can do to prevent or treat heart problems. This book is very informative and does not come across as self-promoting like so many others we have read.Face it, you or someone you love will need to have heart-related services sometime in their future. Grab a copy of Be Heart Smart now while you can read it and absorb it, and maybe help prevent a heart issue. We were sent a complimentary copy of this book. We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative. We are disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Be heart aware
Coronary Heart Disease is the number one killer in the United States. If you haven’t been affected by it the probability is that someone close to you has. This is a subject which all of us should learn about and be prepared to take the appropriate steps when the situation arises. The minutes and days surrounding a coronary event are crucial and the more you know the better the outcome.Be Heart Smart is a clear, down to earth, primer on the subject. Although Khan appropriately includes numerous technical terms, in each case he helps the reader understand their meaning and significance. He doesn’t leave us hanging wondering what he is saying or try to impress us with knowledge. The book is laid out in such to help the reader systematically work through the different kinds of heart issues, their consequences, and remedies. In each case he highlights patients who have overcome life threatening situations, made the necessary life changes, and have gone on to live productive, fruitful lives.Khan makes the reader heart aware and in so doing helps the reader know how to help themselves and others.Upon request the publisher sent me a copy of the book to review.

This is an excellent effort to increase public awareness of coronary heart disease, an underlying cause of one in every four deaths in USA. One of the distinguishing features of this book is how nicely it blends historical facts with the latest and cutting-edge discoveries in a manner that it does not lose its laity readers in transition, a captivating reading to say the least. Vital Information on Heart Health, Clearly Written
This excellent book is written with great clarity in a way that a lay readership can gain a better understanding of protocols for treating, and for possibly reducing the risk of developing heart disease. I appreciate that in the context of emerging nutritional research that the author is open to suggesting that patients explore a range of diets, including a Mediterranean style diet that has performed well in the Lyon, PREDIMED, and other studies.
