Simple, yet engaging for my mom.
I was searching for something to help my mom, with moderate dementia. She had a shape board similar to this in her therapy sessions and I wanted her to be able to use it at home. She can’t do word puzzles any longer and has a short attention span. This wooden puzzle board of shapes and colors is just right for her. She can fiddle with it at the dining room table when she sits there alone and I can also engage with her, challenging her to sort shapes, sort colors and by numbers. She can also just fidget with the shapes if she wants. The pieces have smooth edges and are very light, yet sturdy. Great quality for the price. I’m hoping she will get a lot of use out of this puzzle board and it will help her cognitive abilities stay where they are longer.

The holes on the shape pieces are larger than the pegs which is amazing for easy slide on. Definitely makes it manageable for both younger and older hands with less coordination. The edges of the board could have used a bit better sanding but overall the product is nicely put together. The pegs are secured with glue but don’t wiggle at all.A few of the pieces can fit on the different shape spots (for example: the 2 piece can also fit on the 3 and 4 area) which could make things confusing. I’m not sure if there’s a way to avoid this. The 4 pieces for each shape are different colours which can also allow for the concept of patterns to be incorporated; like having all the blue shapes on the bottom and yellow on the top.Overall well done and a simple yet brain strengthening toy.

This puzzle has been a sweet little boost for my grandma. It’s simple enough for her to enjoy without getting frustrated, but it still challenges her brain with shapes, colours, and numbers. Watching her light up when she matches a piece is priceless — it helps keep her engaged and feeling accomplished. It’s easy to use and doesn’t overwhelm. It’s become a nice routine for us, giving her something fun to focus on and helping ease her loneliness.
