Customers find the cold therapy machine effective for post-surgery recovery, particularly after knee replacement surgery, and appreciate its quality and ease of use. The device stays cold even during the night, and one customer notes it can be programmed to cycle on for 10-30 minutes. While some customers report it lasts all night, others find it not very durable.

Exceptional support and a great unit.
This has been a lifesaver for my wife after her lower back surgery! Her back issue generated a lot of heat and for months we had been rotating cold pop cans on her back every hour. This was not easy to maintain. We were told by one of her nurses about cold water pumps. I ordered this and brought it to her in the recovery facility. It was an instant success for her!She has been using it now for a couple months and it has drastically reduced her heat/pain in the lower back. We have months to go for a second surgery and recovery. We now refill it 2 times a day. After almost 2 months, there was a small leak that developed. The return window was closed, so we contacted the company directly for assistance. They were able to send us a replacement pad overnight! That was an amazing experience with customer service that I cannot remember every having before.Recommendations for use: Do not reuse the water (melted ice/cold water) when it is time to reset. I empty and rinse out the bag after every change. The pipes each have small filters at each connection. Dust and particles will build up in these connections and will slow the flow or block if not treated. I found that once a week, I can disconnect each section and use a needle to clean out any particles on the filter surface. It is really easy and quick, plus keep the unit running at top efficiency.

Cold, convenient, effective, well worth it!
Wouldn’t want to recover from total knee replacement surgery without it! I purchased it with my HSA card and it was well worth it. I had no problems at all with swelling b/c I kept the knee elevated and cold most of the time w/o asking people to run back and forth to the freezer for me for ice packs. My family member can set it up with frozen water bottles, cold water, and ice once a day and let me manage the duration of cold periods (10, 20, or 30 minutes) and how long the interval in between should be. There’s also a continuous cold option, which I used a lot early on, even overnight. The straps are easy for me to wrap around my own knee for good, secure coverage without slipping out of place as ice packs often do. Great for pain relief on occasions when I slightly “over-do it.” It’s also easy to detach from the tubing to hobble to the bathroom w/o unwrapping the knee.

Best Ice machine!
This product is worth the cost, works easy, and continuously, it also is self-explanatory. easy set up and could hold about a gallon of ice water. I have used this for about 3 hours before it would have to be refilled with cold ice water or ice cubes. The controller does pull the cold water through the hoses for cold therapy relief! I have tried the ones that didn’t have a controller and failed to provide constant coldness to your wound areas or areas that are ache-E muscles or didn’t filter through the hose itself. This is great for post op surgery, which I have used for, also this product is easy to break down for easy storage. I hope this helps everyone out there that’s looking for a ice machine I have purchased 2 others and didn’t work as well as this 1 did.

Excellent!
My son was in extreme pain after a leg surgery so I bought this brand simply because I was able to get it delivered the fastest. This machine was a game changer! It provides instant cool therapy and has an almost silent operation, giving my son pain relief and ability to sleep! The only draw back is the cords come out of the zippered top instead of the side of the bag, like other models.

Well worth the money.
Excellent machine for the money, works well and the pad makes it very versatile. They give you plenty of Velcro straps to hold the pad in place, the pad is made of a soft material which is easy on your skin. It get very cold but but can leak if not fully drained.

Workable design, poor execution. Update: Failed at 61 days.
This review applies to the soft side version with no display on the lid.Good:1) Most people use frozen 500ml (16.9oz) water bottles, instead of loose ice, to provide the cooling. This design can accept up to 9 bottles as long as they don’t exceed 70mm (2.75″) diameter, typical plastic disposable drink bottles. There are $400 systems out there that only hold 4.2) The motor is powerful and quiet.3) The wired control fob is easy to use and well-thought-out.4) The wires and hoses are long, and the hose disconnect can be unlatched one-handed.5) No leaks if placed on level surfaces. But like all of these devices, it can produce condensation on some components. That is not a leak.6) Can hold 20 lbs of water and ice. It will still operate with only 10 lbs of water and ice if you keep the motor unit restrained.7) Has a handle for easy carrying when filled.8) The whole thing folds up into a small area, so its easier to store than some hard-side models.Bad:1) The pump motor will sometimes stop spinning. Listen carefully after you hook everything up, and if the motor stops and starts, or doesn’t start at all, move the pump unit around. IMO – the “ON” light that indicates the pump is on, should go to red if motor either isn’t powered up, or is in a locked-rotor condition. This is a cheap and easy change that should cost under $1.NOTE: The “pump on” light doesn’t mean you have plugged the pump power wire into the fob. If you forget to plug pump-to-fob-wire in, the Pump On light will still be lit. Listen carefully every time you refill it to check if the motor is running.2) It came with zero instructions. Since I have used these kinds of devices for years, I wasn’t a problem for me. There is a link to YouTube videos, but most of them do not apply to this model; I never found a ‘Getting Started’ video for this model,, but I didn’t waste more than 10 minutes trying to find it. Your results may vary.3) I didn’t see a ‘parts list’ anywhere, but I doubt repair parts are actually available or they would have included a parts sheet.4) The insulation thickness of the body is insufficient. In a 77F room, the bottom surface reads 50F, sides 71F. There is always a gap at the lid since it uses a zipper for closure. This design will allow you to accidently pull the motor up to the top and ‘suck air’, which will stop the cold flowing and perhaps overheat the motor. All these shortcomings combined can be fixed for under $3, some of them require no part changes or additions.a) My guess to the motor fault is due to a poor inlet or exhaust design at the pump that allows blockage. Add a small mesh bag around the pump assy. But that is only a guess, I did not analyze root cause.b) Always include printed instructions with medical devices including troubleshooting. Many emergencies occur with no broadband.c) The pump light should not be on when the pump isn’t even plugged into power. This is such an easy fix. Conclusion – Durability “N/A” I have been running this for only 5 days. Pump flow “A”. Sound level “A”. Ice capacity “A”. Cooling power “A”. Operational reliability “D”, must be checked audibly to tell if it is pumping. Insulation “D”. Ease of use “D”. I would only recommend this to folks who have used these devices in the past, and are willing to monkey with it daily.Epilogue – I always used fresh filtered water, yet at day 61, one of the plastic one-way valves failed. Everything else works, but if 1 of the 4 valves fails, it won’t work. So you pull off the quick connectors, then use a 1/4″ hose barb to connect the hoses. You will no longer be able to separate the pad from the motor easily, but it will work. Lesson? Don’t disconnect the pad unless you absolutely must.
