Customers say
Customers find the shoulder sleeve professional-grade and effective for shoulder rehabilitation, particularly after surgery, noting it reduces swelling and pain. The product is easy to use, being much easier than regular ice packs, and customers appreciate its pain-relieving properties, especially for post-surgical recovery. The ice retention and fit receive mixed feedback – while some say it stays cold and fits well, others report it doesn’t stay cold and is too small for large arms. The sturdiness and weight are also mixed aspects, with some saying it stays in place while others report it slipping down the shoulder and find it heavy when frozen.

Great quality product used by professional physical therapists
Fantastic Gel Pack works like it is supposed to. Very well made and durable.I bought this gel pack because is the same one my physical therapist uses. He actually had the same pad for 10 years. So this brand is professional grade. He taught me how to properly use cold packs. For the individuals complaining about the pad not getting cold enough or the elasto-gel not lasting cold for too long, here is how cold/heat therapy works.First cold therapy doesn’t mean cold as ice, or burn your skin. It is not supposed to be that cold. it supposed to cool down your muscles and reduce/avoid inflammation after strenuous workout or physical therapy. You should be able to apply it directly to the skin and feel the cooling effect for 10 to 20 minutes max. At no point during this cold therapy, you are supposed to feel like it is too much cold, or it is burning you, or that you can’t take it any more.Again, hot/cold therapies are supposed to last 10 to 20 min per body section (knee, shoulder, etc) and be cold enough to avoid/reduce inflammation, not to burn or freeze muscle/skin tissue (causing more problems than fixing them). With these in mind, the elasto-gel is one of the best cold/heat therapy pads out there and works wonderfully.

Perfect fit for hot and cold. Great product.
Great product. First learned when physical therapist applied to my shoulder. Liked it so much I ordered from Amazon while icing my shoulder on the table. Then ordered a second one through Amazon from Prime Medical Store. Came through wrong with note not returnable. Contacted Amazon who made good. Prime Medical ignored Amazon’s requests. I then contacted manufacturer. Very responsive. Was able to get a new pad directly from manufacturer. Best fitting and most effective cold pack I have come across. Can also be used for heat! Highest recommendation. A little pricey, but well worth it. Caveat: do not get anything from Prime Medical.

Stays cold
Great ice pack. Large and cold. If you can’t have weight where you want this, keep in mind that it is heavy. It stays cold forever!

This gets colder than other reusable ice packs I’ve used.
Nothing compares to crushed ice as a natural pain reliever, but ice is sloppy to use and difficult to obtain in sufficient quantities at home. I love how cold this ice pack gets. I am 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. I purchased the L/XL after rotator cuff surgery to apply 2-3 times per day. It’s a tad big on my shoulder, but I plan to use it on my knees after my shoulder has rehabbed. It fits my knee well. It weighs about 6 pounds. It may be too heavy to use by yourself within the first four weeks post surgery. The velcro strap around the bicep is impossible to secure by yourself, post-surgery. Love that it’s Made In USA.

I ordered it with next day air and couldn’t be happier, I use it throughout the day
I had shoulder surgery recently, and was scheduled for physical therapy afterwards. After doing therapy the therapist used this product on my shoulder and I was floored at how cold it was and how cold it stayed for over 20 minutes. I had been using hard ice packs and bags of frozen vegetables to ice my shoulder before this. As soon as I got home from therapy and promptly found the same product and for a very reasonable price, I was expecting it to be much more expensive since it was used by a professional and it’s quality. I ordered it with next day air and couldn’t be happier, I use it throughout the day, even at work, it’s flexible, easy to use, and stays cold for a very long time, it can also be heated in the microwave if heat is needed.Pros:-reasonably priced-convenient to use-stays cold for a long time (30-40 minutes)-straps on, and sleeve is comfortable-soft material, not hard ice pack or gel pack that could aggravate an injuryCons:-cannot get wet, the gel absorbs moisture and swells, must store in provided plastic bag, and must stay in the bag while in the freezer-personally I would have preferred if the sleeve was open and would wrap around the arm, as this would make it great to use on your back or neck instead of needing a different product-kind of heavy, so if you just had shoulder surgery this may be slightly uncomfortable, however I did not find it uncomfortable, just something to be aware of

Gel shifts inside the sleeve
I bought this product on the advice of my physical therapist for use after each of my home exercise sessions. Initially, I was pleased with it. But after a little more than six months, the gel shifted inside the sleeve so that there was no longer any gel in the section that goes over the top of my shoulder (see attached photo). I emailed the distributor and they responded that this only happens if the product is exposed to moisture. I replied that it has never been wet and I store it in a frost free freezer inside the plastic bag in which it is shipped. That is in accordance with the directions for use. The distributor wrote back, “The only thing that will make the gel shift or clump up is moisture. When the gel starts to warm up after it has been on the body and then put directly into the baggy and then into the freezer will sometimes make condensation inside of the baggie. This could be how it is getting moisture.” That issue is not described in the directions for use. In fact, it seems to me that the only way to avoid this problem would be either to only use the sleeve for 10 minutes at a time so it does not have time to “warm up” or not to store it in a bag, despite the instructions to do so. Based upon this information, I asked the distributor for a replacement sleeve and they have not responded. Also, using the Amazon website, I emailed the merchant that supplied the sleeve via Amazon. They never responded. This item costs too much to only last six months. I am very disappointed that they do not stand behind their product and I do not recommend it. If you do buy it, learn from my experience and care for the sleeve accordingly.
