Are you concerned about preserving your cognitive health until later life?

The Lancet Journal has identified hearing loss as the #1 modifiable factor for the prevention of dementia. ‘Modifiable’ meaning there is something you can do about it.

More than just a minor nuisance, research shows that untreated hearing loss is linked with an increased dementia risk of between 200 to 500 percent.

This Amazon best-selling book, Hearing and Brain Health, explores the physical and mental impact associated with untreated hearing loss, and how to overcome the common barriers to addressing it – and why it’s crucial that you do.

About how Hearing Loss can affect your health-Not what you might expect
Recommended for anyone who has a hearing loss no matter how slight and also for relatives who don’t want to get hearing aids. Very important information of how hearing loss impacts your health.

A fresh approach to hearing loss…
In my work and personal life I’ve found that too many people are prepared to put up with the nuisance of hearing loss and delay treatment all too often.Learning about brain health ramifications shed a whole new light on this important topic.I appreciated that it was heavily referenced with solid science yet written in a manner anyone could follow

Interesting, but expected more for the price
Recently I decided to seek help with what, I perceived, was a slight hearing loss as I am in my late 70’s. I researched local independent audiologists and made an appointment with one who had great ratings. While in the waiting room, I came across Hearing & Brain Health, picked it up and read several pages and decided I would order the book for myself.Upon reading it, there only 4 or so short chapters on hearing loss and more about his experience and less on the actual hearing problem and solutions, etc. Easy to read and understand, but disappointed in the info seemed mostly about him once I got past the first chapters. I wanted to know about different types of hearing aids, from simple to complex, but it seems that most are marketed through their own manufacturers and I am wondering if he is not also doing the same thing. No mention of different ones he may carry only (if more than one), downside, upside, etc. Would have liked more info on the technology and workings “Hearing and Brain Health”. Overpriced

Can’t find a Publisher or Copyright
This book is in need of a good editor, as things are missing that I expected to see. I couldn’t find the name of the author’s college, the name of his publisher, or a copyright.

When told at age 51 that I have hearing loss that requires me to wear hearing aids, I was shocked. Frankly, to be told you need to wear glasses is like being told you need to buy a new fashion accessory, but to be told you need hearing aids is like being told you have a disability.Fortunately, I overcame my negative feelings and got my hearing aids. I didn’t realise my hearing loss was such an issue until I started wearing them and noticing the difference. I also didn’t realise how much MORE of an issue it was until I read Andrew’s book! It’s criminal that more people don’t know about the link between hearing loss and brain health, particularly dementia.Andrew’s book is written in a warm, easy to read tone and features plenty of really interesting anecdotes to prompt excellent relatability, and cultural stories around hearing and brain health. He explains the technical information simply so that the average person can understand how hearing and hearing loss work. He also provides irrefutable evidence as to why hearing aids are essential for social engagement, physical safety and yes, brain health.I had previously read this book in paperback form but am glad to now have access to it via Kindle, my preferred way to consume the written word.Hearing and Brain Health should be compulsory reading for anyone in their 40s and 50s, even if they don’t believe the many junk mail flyers about the need to have their hearing checked. After reading the book, I believe they’ll get onto it pronto. It’s not an alarmist work by any means but is very measured and meaningful. I hope it gains vast readership, for the sake of all those with a less than perfectly functioning pair of ears, whether they know it yet, or not.

The connection between hearing loss & dementia is not well known and this book clearly & simply explains the link. Andrew Campbell has written a great book that I have shared with a number of my friends because I think the message is so important. I really value that his book is based on research and shares an unbiased view on an important topic. This is a must read for anyone who wants to maintain health and vitality into their later years.

I bought this for myself out of a general interest in hearing and the brain, and was plesantly surprised. Not only is it well researched, but it’s easy to read –and somehow entertaining! The author must be pretty passionate about the topic.I learned that if you can catch hearing loss early, you’ve got a better chance at a longer quality of life, but it’s much more than that. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends.

So well written and informative. I wish everyone was aware of the information in this book – if you’ve ever known someone affected by dementia or Alzheimer’s you’ll know that you want to do anything possible to avoid you or a loved one going through that, and this book lays out how simple it can be to greatly reduce the risk. It’s great how it makes scientific studies easy to understand, and the research the author outlines is compelling.

The links between hearing loss and brain health is not common sense knowledge. Andrew discusses the evidence and the surprising links to cognitive decline and dementia. It really goes to show how hearing aids can be not only improve overall hearing and functioning in everday life but also have numerous brain health benefits. The book is written in an easily digestable and entertaining format.
