Inclusion Body Myositis: A Guide for Patients
Original price was: $39.95.$9.95Current price is: $9.95.
This book reviews a strange, rare, and untreatable muscle disease called inclusion body myositis (IBM). It was written by a patient with IBM, using straightforward ideas and language. The book is aimed at the average patient with IBM to help them better understand IBM and its potential complications. Thus, the book should also be helpful for the primary care physician looking after patients with IBM. Today, the research and medical focus on IBM is on discovering what causes IBM and developing treatments. Unfortunately, patients are on a different page: needing help to stay mobile and functional for as long as possible. Patients also need information on managing the practical and psychological challenges of IBM. This book combines the medical and practical aspects of living with IBM in an accessible way. In summary, the book will be helpful to patients, their families, doctors, and caregivers.
“This book can serve as an important extension of information beyond the clinic visit with a doctor.” ~ Lisa Christopher–Stine, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine Director, Johns Hopkins Myositis Center

Helpful IBM Book
When I was diagnosed with IBM last December, this was the book I bought on the subject. There’s very little out there on this disease and this book is the only one I needed to learn about IBM. So grateful to have found it.

Thorough, well organized, easy to read
This book has a fantastic table of contents, it is up to date, and delves into many aspects of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). He details many aspects of the disease as well as a very well written section about dealing with the psychological issues when one realizes that you will be continuously living with this chronic illness. It is also worth giving to family members and friends to help them have a better understanding of IBM.

READABLE AND INFORMATIVE
I’ve read other books on Inclusion body myositis. I appreciate the updated factual information (citing sources), but in a readable and easily understood way. So even if you’ve read many other articles or books about this disease, you’ll learn a lot. Book really covers all aspects and also interjects personal experiences to make his illustrate his point–very effective.

Superb resource for anyone dealing with IBM
This book has been needed for a very long time. I have IBM, and have never found this information in an easy to access format. I plan to purchase the book for all my relatives so that they can try to better understand it. Mr. Tillier has broken a very complex subject into an easy to access format. The author has been an incredible supporter of the Myositis community, and I am thrilled that he has compiled his considerable knowledge into a book.

A well structured, easy and informative read. Good factual information and informative advice from years of lived experience with the disease.Strongly recommended for IBMers, their families, doctors and allied health providers who rarely understand the lived experience and the journey ahead.
