Customers say

Customers find the glucose meter easy to use and set up, with clear instructions. The accuracy and quality receive mixed reviews, with some finding it highly accurate while others report inaccurate readings and poor quality. The blood requirement is also mixed, with some appreciating the small amount needed while others complain about insufficient blood samples. The reading accuracy is concerning, with numbers consistently lower than expected, and customers express safety concerns, with some warning it could be dangerous for pets. Value for money opinions are divided between those who find it worth the price and those who consider it a waste of money.

    Good size complete kit
I haven’t used this meter yet but I got far as calibration. Trying to set date/time I’m having trouble and shouldn’t. I’ve used alpha trac 2 in past, so I know how to use a glucometer. The alpha is much easier but mine is now discontinued so can’t get test strips. Going to have my daughter, a nurse, help me with this. If she can’t get it set up, something’s wrong so back it will go. I read another review from back in 2020, from Desirie. I felt so bad for her as I’ve been in her place with two geriatric cats, one diabetic, one hyperthyroid. Not knowing her pets age back then, they may still be around, I just wanted to offer bit of a tip for using the lancet. I don’t use the gun with it. I just hold the lancet and poke the ear. I think the loud click scares a cat more. My boy was 17 when diagnosed. I couldn’t get blood from his ear every time in first poke. I usually could get it from the base of ear if the tip wouldn’t work. Reading her review I felt so bad for her cat, and her. I understand what she went thru! Again I guess it’s possible her cat is still around, if so I hope things are going well, if not just know you cared, did all you could for him/her.UPDATE: had help with complete set up. The meter works well. Am satisfied with this. I wanted to update review as I know companies rely on customers opinions. I have also been a direct customer of this company, have not had any problems with any other products purchased in past.

    Works great
I took the time to read the instructions and set it up. I was able to code it and test it, everything worked great. Monitor is very easy to use and navigate menus. I did have a learning curve with the lancet and trying to get enough blood to get a proper reading. If you don’t get enough blood it will still read, it’s very sensitive, however it will read very low. That being said, you still don’t need much! If it’s your first time using something like this, I would suggest watching a video on how to use the lancet and how to get the ear to produce enough for a proper reading. I didn’t see any setting suggesting for the lancet either. I used setting 2 on my cats ear. 1 wasn’t enough I couldn’t get anything from that setting.

    A necessary purchase
I’m taking off a star only because of the price, at more than a dollar a strip. We wouldn’t buy these things if we didn’t have to test our feline master twice a day. The quality is good and we appreciate the convenience of them being available on Amazon, usually with quick delivery. Diabetes is an expensive ailment, between the cost of the testing device (although you only have to buy that once), the lancets, these testing strips (most expensive thing you need), the syringes, the insulin, and of course the blood tests at the vet. Just wish these were a bit more affordable

It’s not suited for my old cat
This did not work for me at all. I tried watching videos and reading articles. Each time I tried to even do the highest setting for the needle, I was never drawing enough blood. Part of it is that my cat is a senior citizen and my vet said that they draw less blood, so that might be the issue, but I didn’t want to keep pricking my big cat baby. I tried it after three attempts each time and it was never enough blood to get the monitor to work.

Excellent unit for monitoring your pet
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I had used an ipet monitor in 2013 and it was easy to use and accurate. Customer support is great, my injector pen was not puncturing my cats ear enough and they overnighted 2 new pens that work great.

I’m sure its a great meter, if you can get your pet to bleed
This seems like such a great meter. Cost-wise & user-wise. Unfortunately I just cannot get a blood sample out of my cat! Maybe he’s old and dry. Poor thing’s ears are pricked up and down both ears, and even attempted the paw twice. I managed to get a scooch of blood and got a bogus reading of 83. I know his glucose did not drop from 300+ down to 83 with NO insulin. He’s had a diet change for about a week, and on meds for his uti.He hates his paws and ears touched. So trying to rub his ear to get it warm was a joke. I tried anyway. Poke! nothing. squeeze. nothing. poke again. nothing. Just a very annoyed cat, that definitely won’t let me touch him now. I’ve watched all the videos, listened to the vet, NOTHING will make this cat bleed! I damn near pierced his ear all the way through with the lancet set at 5. Still not a solid drop of blood to test. I know I can’t afford long term treatment for my cat’s diabetes. And not being able to test him, I’ll never know if the diet change is helping, or if he is getting worse. I have to wait until I visibly see him suffering to take him in to be put down. I was trying to avoid suffering. His behaviors/functions are well, aside from his weakened legs, so I hate to put him down just because of having diabetes. $40 that could have went towards euthanasia, now down the toilet, and if he begins to suffer, I have to wait to get more money before I can take him in. I can’t return this thing, as its used. 6 strips and 4 or 5 lancets. Unless you are positive you are comfortable enough and your animals blood is thin enough, don’t waste the money. This is upsetting. I feel like I was let down, and now I’m letting my guy down because I’m not smart enough to get a drop of blood. If you aren’t very financially comfortable, diabetes is a death sentence for your pet. Bad enough for humans, even worse for pets. Pre-existing conditions are not covered by pet insurance.
