Grip tool for opening jars, installable
I got this because I had family visiting and figure it would be useful for one of my senior relatives whose gripping ability isnt exactly weak ,but can sometimes use a limit of help. The quality of the item seems fine, and i think the product itself isn’t great idea. But my.relative for whatever reason didn’t seem super enthusiastic to use it and just prefers to open jars then regular way. I guess it just semmes simpler than fiddling under the cupboard and figuring out a different grip’s technique? The value is reasonable, speaking objectively. This review is for “Jar Opener Bottle Opener for Seniors with Arthritis – Under Cabinet Jar Opener for Weak Hands, Rotary Lid Opener, Easy Twist-Off Lids for Jars & Bottles, Original Kitchen Gadgets (White)”

Actually works and hasn’t fell!
I really love this product! It was easy to install and it came with either screws or a really good sticky to place under a cabinet. I chose to use the sticker and it really holds on. I use this constantly for various sized jars. I like how it doesn’t need to be plugged in, charged up, or use batteries. It is very easy to use! I just place a jar underneath, spin to tighten to the jar, and turn. Very convenient and truly works amazing! It is plastic but it hasn’t given me any problems yet! Great product!

Good Concept, But Impractical
The concept here is sound, and I like the space-saving under-cabinet design. When it came to actually using this opener, though, I ran into some trouble. I just couldn’t seem to get a consistent, solid grip on the different lids I tried. The mechanism seemed to slip more often than it would actually catch and turn the lid. Because of that, the whole process felt awkward and impractical. Maybe it’s a technique thing and others will have better luck, but for me, it wasn’t the simple solution I was after.

I’m not a fan
. . . especially since this item is marketed as an aid to people who are “manually challenged.” Thank heaven I don’t actually have arthritis or anything like that. It’s just that lids are often installed by machines that are apparently set tight. In the “old days” the man of the house would gallantly say, “Let me get that for you–” but those days are long gone. The included double-sided tape doesn’t hold well enough on its own, and the little tiny screws would be a nightmare for anyone who has a condition affecting manual dexterity, especially for under-counter installations. I gave up and substituted some stubbier, somewhat longer screws that were easier to hold. Not everybody has a good substitute like that on hand. The package comes with no explanation about how it works. Some of us have no mechanical “knack.” I had to figure out that the reason you turn the little flywheel counter-clockwise is to get the opening sized to the lid. The instructions say “wedge the cap in, [then] turn the ‘dial'” which isn’t actually how it happens – and when I see the word “dial” I’m looking for something with settings on it. I used a 3-liter bottle that had already been opened just for practice, and saw additional problems. The slick plastic surface of the lid tended to slip out of the “jaws” set to hold it, and anyone who has hand weakness would have trouble holding that heavy bottle up while keeping it firmly in place while twisting it.

I’m DeededVery Handya
This is great. This was easy to install. I put it right next to my stove. It’s so darned convenient. I already have a jar opener, but have found this one easier to use. I really like that it isn’t going into a kitchen drawer after using.I have arthritic hands and opening jars is something I often struggle with. I have a large family and presently have grandchildren living with me. Though three of them have been living with me for almost 3 years and the fourth who hasn’t been here very long, but has spent almost as much time in my home as her mothers you would think they would know where things go, One is 11, one is 17 and there are two 18 year olds. None of them seem to realize yet that everything has a place.Having this jar opener installed under my counter means I’m not going to have to go hunting for it when I need a then we’re banging on lids with a knife.I think it’s a well made product, that’s easy on my hands and that alone makes me love it. I rarely ever have bottles with caps like beer bottles and some soft drinks have, but it’s nice knowing I can use this for them as well as larger jars.
