Locking mechanism doesn’t work unless the entire piece is laying flat on a cupboard. Which isn’t conducive for opening a jar lid. Waste of money; not worth a dime.

A bit hard to use at first no instructions
I had to fumble with it a bit. No instructions included. I have very weak hand strength. Once you get a good grip on lid, it does give good leverage to open jars. The teeth seem a bit flimsy, or should not be as pointy. However i was able to open the jar. So it did serve its purpose.

Poor build quality compared to American made tools from before the 80s. Mediocre at best.
This design has been around a while, and we used to have a nice American made one. This copy is less than perfect. The ratchet hooks on the inside of the handle are not very deep so the ratchet tooth does not grab very well. Also the stamped steel parts are thinner and less sturdy than our old American made jar opener. Overall a 2 out of 5 because of build quality. Just another example of the enshittification of commerce due to globalism.
