Customers find the smart switch easy to install and appreciate its quality, with one noting it’s the best engineered smart switch. The connectivity receives mixed feedback – while it connects easily to WiFi systems, some report it won’t connect to their iPhone app. The dimming control and controllability also get mixed reviews, with some saying the brightness adjusts smoothly while others report it doesn’t work at all, and while the app is easy to use, some find it not worth the price.

    A Good Fan Controller
Need a smart, Wi-Fi connected fan speed controller that works with a variety of smart systems, including Apple’s HomeKit? This may be what you’re looking for. There’s a lot to like about the Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Generation Fan Speed Controller (Whew! That’s a mouthful!).First off, it’s from Leviton and their Decora line of switches. I’ve used Leviton switches in the past and have found them to be solid products. Their Decora line is just a fancy name for their version of the popular rocker switches, dimmers, controllers, and outlets designed for residential use. This particular product is somewhat unique in that it is a fancy name for a fan speed controller only. It has no provision to switch or dim a light that your fan may have. You would use this controller in situations where the fan and the light on the fan are controlled by separate wall switches, something new construction and newly renovated homes may have. Those of you with a fan/light setup that’s controlled from a single switch, don’t despair. There are products available from other manufacturers who make such a beast, though it may not be smart.Swapping out your old fan switch for the Decora Smart Fan Controller is as easy as swapping out a regular single-pole switch. If your fan has a pull-chain speed control, set it on high.NOTE: If you’re nervous about working with switches and outlets, I would suggest you get someone who is experienced or hire an electrician. If you’re okay with doing minor electrical work, just make sure you take the necessary precautions and follow the well-laid-out instructions. Inside of 15 minutes, your new controller is connected.Once the controller is connected, you’ll need to set it up in HomeKit or whichever smart environment you’re using. DO THIS BEFORE YOU PUT ON THE FACEPLATE. In HomeKit, add a device, then scan the QR code on the controller. After a minute or so, you’ll go through the HomeKit dialogue where you name the controller and designate its location. HomeKit will set up the controller’s WiFi connection and integrate it into the HomeKit environment. After a few more minutes, it’s done. You can then put on the faceplate. Easy!Once installed and set up, you can then say something like, “Siri, set the bedroom fan to 50%,” and away she goes. The Decora controller will let you set your fan speed between 25% and 100%.What’s nice is that you don’t need to download another app in order to get the controller working. HomeKit does it all and shows you the status of the fan in the Home app. I would think the process is similar for those using Google Home or Amazon’s Alexa. So, a good smart fan (only) controller at a decent price from a reputable manufacturer, I definitely recommend the Leviton Decora Smart WiFi 2nd Gen Fan Speed Controller.

    Fantastic Wi-Fi Switch
My son installed one of these for my outside lantern and porch lights to turn on and off automatically and I liked it so much that I ordered three more for inside lamps and Christmas lights. The app works flawlessly with setting them up and making a separate schedule for each one. If I decide I want my family room lamps to turn off before the scheduled time and I happen to be too lazy to get up from the recliner, I open the app on my phone and can operate any of the switches remotely. I am thinking where I can put them next as they are so innovative and might buy more. While on a recent trip to Thailand, I could even turn them on and off from far away.

Excellent and flexible ELV smart programmable dimmer for LED fixtures
It took me a long time to get the courage up to install this, but it was an easy install. Instructions are good and my single pole install was quick.I find the hardest part a lot of times with electrical switch/timer installs is getting the really stiff wire to fit right in the junction box after installing the switch. The syncing up to WiFi was easy – my Eero router is right nearby, and the app is easy to use.My front lights are LED based and require an ELV dimmer and this was the most affordable from a name brand. The flexibility to dim at many levels, set schedule, adjust on/off ramping times – all very cool.If it lasts a long time and doesn’t break, it’s an awesome value. Let’s hope that’s the case!

Matter firmware is not instantly available.
EDIT: The rest of my review is important for context. But after a firmware update, yes these do support matter. The pairing code isn’t printed on the device though, you have to get it from their app. These do work well with Home Assistant and can be exposed from HA to Alexa using the Matter Hub addon.I got these for the Matter support they claim with a firmware update. We’ll you have to enroll in their early access program to get the matter firmware, and that takes up to 24 hours. So presently my decorating is on hold where I was going to use four of these dimmers. If the firmware turns out to work well I’ll give it a +1, but this wait to get the advertise functionality is not OK.EDIT: I got access to the firmware after a few hours. Updated each and used the Matter pairing codes to connect them to my Home Assistant server. These are now controlling a ton of my indoor Christmas lights and the effect is nice. So currently these are the only units in the market that I found on this site and support Matter. If they make that support out of the box and include a Matter QR code on the device, they’ll be 5-star.

Easy to setup and well designed
This is a great HomeKit compatible smart plug for a light or kitchen appliance. I use it to automatically turn on my espresso machine in the morning. It was easy to set up.One feature that I did not see document anywhere is that it does have a physical on-off button—you do not need to use an app or Siri to exclusively control the plug. Simply push the green light and the plug will turn on/off.

These are great for outdoor lighting, full-time and seasonal (Christmas and Halloween). In the off-season, we use them for the grow-lights on our seeds. Easy to install to our Apple Home, very reliable.

Expensive but it dims my LED pot lights much better than the cheaper dimmers.

Great outdoor outlet, it was one of the easiest devices I ever paired with HomeKit. Has both Canadian and US safety approvals (which for me is a must-have for anything that’s going to be plugged in and left unattended).I’m using it to control a fountain pump in the garden. It’s very hard to find a HomeKit outlet that is suitable for electric motors and pumps (most are for lighting only), so was very happy to discover this unit had “fountain pumps” listed as one of the recommended uses!I’ve tried other outdoor HomeKit outlets for lighting, and found that they occasionally lose contact with HomeKit, and need to be unplugged and plugged back in to regain connectivity. So far, this unit has been rock solid (I’ve used Leviton HomeKit light switches inside my house, and they’ve been super-reliable and never needed resetting, so fingers crossed this unit will stand the test of time too).Worth the extra money in my opinion, best HomeKit outlet I’ve ever used.

I’ve got a few of these in the house now, and they’re solid with HomeKit. This ELV one, which works with regular wattages too, is a little more finicky and doesn’t play as well with the Leviton app when using the Matter over wifi firmware. I had a tough time getting it paired, but it’s been pretty good since. I need to do a master reset on it to set it up with the Leviton app first as well, then upgrade the matter firmware. You’ll still need the Leviton app when using HomeKit because you can customize more options like fade in and timing.
