The Count A Dose is a simple way to fill insulin syringes safely and accurately with one or two bottles of insulin (any brand). The bottle holder is marked to identify bottles for easy mixing—one raised dot for the first bottle and two raised dots for the second bottle.
With the click dial starting all the way down toward the raised minus (-) sign, the user simply moves the click dial the number of times, or clicks, per unit of insulin needed. Each click of the dial toward the plus sign (+) will draw one unit of insulin into the syringe.
Insulin therapy will cost a lot less using a Count A Dose versus using insulin pens and pre-filled reservoirs!

This is not the same as pre 2010 models
We have been using this product for decades. It has been 15 years since we needed to buy one, but it was time for a new backup count a dose. We ordered and the one that came in worked fine until you put a syringe in it, then it bound up at about 7 or 8 units and would not go farther. We sent it back for replacement and got a new one, that just barely works better. The replacement also binds up, but if you are real careful, it just barely works.Looking at the old and the new model, they look the same at first glance, but are clearly different. The old one has a patent number and is made by a different company. The old one, rolls smoother with more distinct clicks.We did some research and found that around 2010, the FDA decided it needed to be retested to continue to be sold. The original maker decided not to go through the hassle and ‘Prodigy’ (maker of lots of blind friendly insulin products, thank you, we depend on you daily) decide to make a new model.Unfortunately the new model is just a shadow of the original. The difference is scary.If you are blind and you need to draw up your own insulin, this is your only choice. We are keeping the new model as a spare because there just are not any other options. We hope we will never need to use it, measuring insulin accurately is a life or death task. This new model does not inspire confidence. But if it is your only option, what choice do you have?
