These jar openers are exactly what I was looking for. I have been able to open all the jars that I have needed to open.

Works like a charm! No-frills, but effective.
I’ve tried other gizmos that supposedly help you open jars, but they were jokes. These grippies are really the only thing you need, and it’s all the better that they barely take up any space in your drawer. They actually work. I have a bit of arthritis in my fingers and often need my husband’s help with jars, but slapping one of these on top of the lid gives it plenty of traction to help me twist a new jar’s lid off myself, with moderate effort. Growing up, the one we had was thicker than this, but I feel like this thinner kind makes gripping the jar lid easier, so I’m all for it. My only complaint is that they reeked to high heaven when I first opened the package. I laid them all out in a room we don’t use, to offgas. It took a long time, and they still smell if your nose gets close enough. Perhaps it’s to be expected, since they’re rubber, but it still unnerves me a bit. I also think it would be nicer if they came in a more reasonable quantity (and price), like 3. Otherwise, they’re darn effective and I do 100% recommend them.
