Omron TENS Therapy Device for Knee
I slightly twisted my knee and was curious to see if this TENS device would reduce the minor twinges/discomfort and it seems to be slightly helping with a soothing/distracting pulsation. Individual satisfaction will be dependent upon the severity and cause of the pain. And, it seems prudent to consult a physician before use based on the rather long and serious list of safety information that includes significant cautions. It may be used for 30 minutes up to twice a day—and the unit automatically powers off after the allotted time. Fit is important for proper operation so check measurements to determine the correct size. The device creates pulsations that encourage the nerves around the injury to reduce the pain signals to the brain and also encourage the release of endorphins similar to what occurs when exercising. It has a replaceable band which is stated to last for approximately 6 months along with a pad that adheres to the knee area and is reusable 30 times before it needs replacement. I checked cost and the bands are approximately seventeen dollars and the pads are roughly fifteen. The instruction manual is clearly written and should be considered mandatory reading because operation and maintenance are not intuitive and misuse may harm the user and/or the device.Information includes how to properly apply and position the band and pad, how to clean after each use, storage in between uses along with basic operation instructions. A soft fabric storage case is included. I am ambivalent about the device because while I like it for my use it is hard to justify the required commitment both in time for required maintenance and monetary for on-going supplies.

    Still deciding
Dislike: The product description on-line did not mention the owner’s manual restriction of use if I have a heart pacemaker. I did not get that info until I opened the packaging and read the restriction! Fortunately my cardiologist gave me the OK for the device for my knees and additionally for a different TENS device for use on my lower back if desired.I’ve since used the device 4 times on both knees and I think it helps with the daily pain. The pain relief is not instant nor is it short lived. Done in the evening the effect seems to last into my 2-3 mile walking period the next morning. My evaluation of the pain relief continues with further use which will affect my overall rating.I bought the product because I’ve been satisfied with my two OMRON blood pressure monitors. All are well designed and well made.

    Bit of Sci-fi fantasy!
I have nasty osteoarthritis in both knees and really hoped this was going to help. The elaborate set up, charging system and strange electric pulsing was interesting at first but ultimately did nothing much to stop any pain and the package now lives in my cupboard. I hope it helps you but for me, fasting and diet is more effective!

    Fairly Weak
This knee TENS fit well. It is easy to put on. However, it just did not seem to have the strength/power to provide relief to our knees.

    The Tingler Helps
This reminds me of a similar but smaller device that my wife wears on her wrist to avoid or minimize motion sickness. It is supposed to be signaling an accupressure point that sends signals to the brain. My internal cynic tells me, maybe she’s just distracted. Either way, it works. She doesn’t get sick in the car when she uses it.According to Omron, the TENS Therapy for Knee works as follows:• The gentle electrical pulses move through the skin to nearby nerves to block or shut out the pain signal from the source of the pain from ever reaching the brain.• The gentle electrical pulses increase the production of the body’s natural pain killer, such as endorphins.• The electrical stimulation improves blood circulation as well. Muscles contract and relax with the flow of the electrical stimulation. With repeated contracting and relaxing, the blood flows in and out and the blood circulation is improved.Again, I’m not sure what reason contributes the most. It helps.I love the fact that you can actually go out and walk while the unit is strapped on, giving you the adjustable tingle. Of course, you can also use it while just sitting around watching TV or reading. Twice a day for 30 minutes is recommenced.I’m no medical practitioner. I didn’t perform any reserch involving test and control subjects. All I know is that it seems to help for me. I may look into one of their units to treat my shoulder, which is usually more painful than my knees.

    Compact. Does The Job.
This is a good TENS device to wrap around your knee to help with some pain. I like the tingly sensation I get when I use TENS therapy. It does feel relaxing and helps a bit. This one I have is medium sized, which “just” fits. If you have a larger leg, you might want to go for a larger strap. The gel things wear out pretty quick, and they stick very well to your skin. You want to make sure you don’t have any hair where you are applying it or it will hurt pulling off.It has a rechargeable battery so you just have to charge it first before use, and then you are good to go. I wasn’t sure if it had auto stop, but it does after using it. I fell asleep with it on my knee and when I woke up it had stopped. It has plenty of settings for intensity, and for me midway is more than enough. I never tried it on max, and don’t think I could handle it. All in all, it helps and I like it.
