Customers say
Customers find the can opener easy to use, particularly for those with arthritic hands, and appreciate that it leaves no sharp edges. The functionality and sturdiness receive mixed feedback – while some say it works well and can open any size or shape of can, others report it doesn’t work on all cans and breaks after light use. The lid removal and cutting performance also get mixed reviews, with some saying the lid lifts right off while others find it difficult to detach, and while some say it cuts great, others report it doesn’t cut completely through the seam.

I was skeptical, but they did successfully re-invent the can opener!!
I am fairly conservative and don’t lightly abide “re-inventing the wheel.” I definitely felt skeptical of any claim to re-inventing a freakin’ can-opener. But I read about this can opener on a credible tech website, so I tried it. Everything the review said was true. I have owned it for over a year, and it is a better can opener! And it is interesting enough to get me to write a ditty about it.It is a bit off-putting at first because it does not have “arms” that clamp down onto the can like every other can opener I had used in my 56 years on Earth. (Electric or manual). Instead, you hold it up against the can, turn the knob once or twice, and the cutting disc and the support disc rotate into place and holds the can, itself, while cutting. It can do so because the cutting disc cuts sideways into the side of the can under the lid instead of cutting downward into the lid of the can. All the support disc needs to do is hold onto the top lip of the can outwards, with the cutting wheel pressing inwards sideways into the can.Once I fumbled with it the first two or three cans and learned how to do it, I’ve had no problems. Functionally, it works as seamlessly, easy, and quick as a normal can opener.First, as advertised, the cut edge always comes out smooth and safe, unlike the jagged edge produced by all can openers that cut down into the lid. No sharp edges at all. For that, alone, it is superior and worth it. Not a huge problem, but when you can avoid sharp pieces of metal, that’s an improvement. The sharp metal becomes unnecessary.Second, because you cut the entire lid off instead of cut the lid into a circular piece, you can replace the lid back on the can to put the remainder of the can in the fridge: particularly useful for pet food. I bought some fancy little plastic lids to “re-seal” a half-used can of pet food, which prevents the food from drying out in the fridge while also preventing spills and aromas from pet food from stinking up the fridge. Those plastic lids are not necessary, now. The lid doesn’t not “snap” on as tightly as the plastic lids, but they do a good enough job re-sealing it for the brief time the can sits in the fridge.Third, because it only has one handle instead of two handles that clamp together, it takes up much less space in the utensil drawer.Fourth, although you cannot “see” the cut progress and finish like standard can openers, you can feel a change in tension when the cutting disc completes its turn around the can. Then you can just lift the lid off with the opener as a handle. The lid stays on the opener, the can stays on the counter. Or you can turn the knob the other direction to release the cutting wheel’s tension, and just pull the lid off. (I prefer using the device to pull the lid off because that confirms it is done and doesn’t need to be re-seated, yada, yada.) But the upshot is that you do not need to “dig” into the can with your finger or fingernail to pull the lid out from inside the can. Because it cuts the lid off, you just take the entire lid off.The one downside is that I used to use the circular piece of the lid that the standard can openers cut off to press down into cans of tuna fish and squeeze out the water. Because this opener cuts the entire lid off from underneath the lip, the lid will not go inside the can to serve as a press. A feature in one aspect is also a small drawback. But I don’t eat much tuna fish, so that is not a huge problem. I just use the lid as a strainer (hold it on while water escapes through the crack) instead of a press.Still, it is smaller, safer, and better. Strange as it might sound, they did successfully re-invent the can-opener!

Love it
Best can opener I’ve ever purchased!! No issues, no slipping and no jagged edges!! Super sharp, makes opening easy. Feels very durable and the weight isn’t too heavy

A Nice Surprise
I first saw this can opener on a YouTube video. I had a Black and Decker hand-held, rechargeable can opener that I like and used for years. When the battery was getting old, my daughter threw out my old reliable can opener so I’d buy a new one! I’ve tried a few–some of which were not cheap–and none I’ve tried performed as well as my old one. A YouTuber was talking about tin cans–their history, technology and the like, and one thing he showed was this new type of can openers–a device he greatly recommended. I figured I’d give it a try even though it was a manual opener.Years before, I had a battery operated device that cut the can below the seal–on the side–and that was novel, but it didn’t impress me and it went the way of the dump. This gadget has impressed me too. It doesn’t cut like a normal can opener, but undoes the seal of the can, allowing the top (or bottom) to come off. It does it in such a way that doesn’t leave a jagged, sharp edge as a normal can opener does, and the way in which it does it, allow the can to be recapped with it own lid for short-term storage in the refrigerator. It also doesn’t create a lip, like a normal can opener that can catch food and make complete removal of the contents difficult. The manual device works predictably and with a dozen turns of the device it’ll open most standard-sized cans without much effort. It works well on the smallest cans–like tomato paste–all the way up to large cans. I’ve not had a single can its not performed well on–even self opening, pull-top cans.On many occasions, I’ve struggled getting cans engaged on the many openers that I’ve owned, only to have the lid submerge into the can’s contents before it come fully off. This can cause the magnet to get soiled with food and then you’ve got to clean us a mess. This can opener never has the lid push down into the food and once you get all the way around, its just a quick quarter-turn backwards and the device come off. The lid doesn’t even look like it open until you lift it off effortlessly. Its a great gadget and I’d recommend it to anyone. Now my power Cuisinart can opener sits unused–It’ll soon be joining all the other I’ve sent to the dump. I think eventually, all can openers will employ this technology.

Works great for 6 months
Worked great for 6 months, then it started failing to open cans, just like every other non-sharp can opener that we have had. I like the non-sharp openers; however, I am resigned to buying a new one biannually.

I would write home about this can opener
At 1st, I didn’t like it but once I figured out how to use it, I was amazed how wonderful this can opener is. It is nearly effortless to open a can and once can is opened, unlike regular can openers, you can use the top of the can as a lid.I would buy again but I don’t think I’ll ever need to as this unit is sturdy and well made. Very happy with this item.

Reliable and easy to use. Better result than traditional openers IMO.
I’ve been using this for over a year, now, and am completely happy with it. I like the safety factor of not having sharp edges, but the best part for me is that it removes the whole top of the can. Without a residual rim on the can it is possible to easily and completely scrape out the entire contents. A bonus is that it requires less force to turn than other can openers I’ve had, so it is easy to use, as well. It has never failed to open anything I’ve tried. I even use it on pull-top cans just to get the rimless edge for scraping. Recommended.

Unlike most can openers, this one works on a different principal. No sharp edges. We think it is a great design and works well.

Cuts off the lid of the can from the outside edge. No mess.Turn handle back (anti clockwise) put the opener on top of the can then turn clockwise. The can will rotate as you turn the handle. After a 360° rotation the top of the can will just lift off with the opener.Very easy to use, good value.Waited more than one month for delivery?
