    Great purchase!
I purchased and assembled my ramp (for my mom) in February 2023. Seller support was awesome. As an over 60 year old female, I was able to start the ramp alone but as it was built, of course it got heavier. Needed my sons to come assist with finishing the assembly and putting it into place. The ramp is an awesome asset for my mom’s walker and wheelchair access! It is showing no signs of degradation. This was a great purchase!

    A semi-permanent mobility aid
Highly recommend! NOTE: The item you are purchasing is the (hard to find or replicate) specialty hardware for each end of a ramp. You will build the ramp yourself with wood, screws, bolts etc. that you will purchase at your local hardware store. This ramp is designed so that it can be moved when no longer needed, and can readily be re-used in another location. It is perfect for service groups or anyone who just needs to help someone else be more mobile and less house-bound. Please be aware that even though it can be moved, a ramp that is this sturdy is quite heavy and will require two or more people to maneuver, including during the simple assembly. Before you begin your build, definitely call the customer support number and talk to Charles about where you plan to use the ramp. He has all kinds of useful documents and ideas, but each site is a bit different and he can help tailor suggestions to what your specific situation requires. For instance, in our case the ramp does not run straight into the door but comes up from the side, so a platform was required to allow for safe turning, opening the door, etc. He helped me know what size platform I would need (and why) and to think through other features we needed to be sure to include. My peers are approaching the point where they or their aging parents will need accessibility aids to keep them mobile and I will absolutely be recommending this kit to any of them who plan to DIY. Without this, any construction that allows for smooth transitions at the top or bottom of the ramp is fairly complicated and requires more carpentry skills. This eliminates all the calculationg and sawing of odd angles. Our order arrived much sooner than Amazon told is it would. Before it even shipped, we received an automatic Amazon e-mail with all the contact information and some basics from the Palmer organization. Between that and a phone call to Palmer customer support, we were able to think through and purchase the necessary supplies ahead of time, meaning this project was completed much sooner than we had expected.

Mr Palmer Stands WITH His Kits
I was in need of an inexpensive, but not too difficult to construct wheelchair ramp. I had broken my neck nearly 50 years ago, but the nerve endings in my neck were now quickly deteriorating and I was losing more and more leg use dailyThe cost of most contractor built wood or aluminum ramps were estimated from $2800 to 6500 and I was not able to swing that and modify the back of my van to carry a motorized chair.I came across Palmer Wheel Chair Ramps on Amazon and saw what looked to be a low cost, easy to build option for my ramp needs, this is too good to be true.I contacted Mr Palmer and described my situation. He asked that I send him some photographs of my front porch and walkway plus some measurements that he would need to determine what length of ramp and kit type would be best for my situation. He practically designed me a ramp system that included a special “threshold deck” that allowed for the 4 inches the door stood over the porch and the 5 ft length to the first step of my 23″ high porch. Mr Palmer had 2 separate kits for me to purchase. The instructions seemed very straight forward and with 2 able bodied people with minimum skills, should be able to assemble with mostly pre-cut or standard length lumbar in under 3-4 hours (ramp and transition deck) for about $400 in materials, much less than the “professional” estimates.I ordered the kits which arrived quickly, about 2 days) and were tightly packed in long, flat brown boxes that contained detailed instructions and the metal brackets (what makes these kits so remarkable).I had made arrangements for my 2 brothers to come out and build the ramps for me, but I would need to wait nearly 2 weeks as the work tugboat and are 14 days on, 14 days off and the ramps arrived at the wrong point of their schedule. Then while waiting to get the ramps built, my insurance company (without me knowing) had sent in my information and qualified me for a Government Grant that would pay for up to $6000 for commercial approved wheelchair ramp (it would need to be wider than the Palmer Kit ramp).I informed Mr Palmer and he said it would be no problem to return the ramps, but to wait until I actually have the ramps installed or some contract that shows that I am actually getting these ramps before sending back the brackets. Then along comes Coronavirus and the associated lockdowns. I was told 2 weeks later because of Caronavirus that the grant project was shut down indefinitely. I was about to email Mr Palmer to tell him that the grant program shut down when I got a message that because my grant was fully approved they were releasing my funds to the contractor for immeadiate installation.Even though I had received the 2 Palmer Ramp Kits over 40 days prior, Mr Palmer still approved a 100% refund on the price of the ramps.Mr. Palmer stands behind and with his kits. He is ready to help in anyway that he can over email and phone. You cannot purchase a better wheelchair ramp kit, from a person who truly cares about his product and his customer.I fully recommend Palmer Wheelchair Ramp Kits.

Easy to follow instructions and worth the money
While the product includes the top and bottom of the ramp metal hardware, it is still a bargain. To buy an aluminum ramp that is 16 feet long, would cost me anywhere from $2,500 or more. My total cost, including this purchase, was under $500. And, I used this project as an excuse to buy a few tools extra that I have been wanting. So, I probably could have got away with $400 for all costs making the ramp.Easy to use instructions. He called and went over what I was wanting and made sure the plans were the best ones for me. Then offered telephone assistance if needed. For a 16 foot ramp, you will need a buddy to help out. It is just because it gets heavy with that much wood. And, it did take us about 2 hours to build and neither of us have any real experience with building this type of thing. Overall, I am very happy with the completed project, and my wife is even happier.
