Excellent! Totally worth the $$
I bought this mattress a few weeks ago and have been sleeping on it (on top of my “normal” mattress) since then—I do not have a medical condition that requires special treatment, but I just wanted something to increase the comfort factor of my base mattress, since I was frequently waking up with a creaky back, although my base mattress is still in good shape.I had tried eggshell foam (OK but it retained heat like crazy), thick mattress toppers (ditto, plus they flattened quickly), and a much cheaper air mattress (Drive medical), which was great while it lasted, but it didn’t last long (I also have a review posted under that product). My goal was to improve mattress comfort without adding a heat sink, since I sleep hot as it is.I had hesitated over the price of the item, but the first night I slept on the Roho convinced me it was worth the $—in fact I bought a 2nd one so I could cover my entire queen bed–the material the mattress is made of seems very sturdy, and it is smartly designed with snaps all around each unit (you receive 3 smaller units that snap together) so you can configure the connections in multiple ways. I was going to wait to review until I’d used it for at least 1+ months so I could comment on durability, but I’m impressed enough to submit a review now. One small temporary con–the mattress sections do have that plastic-y smell to them, but I just put them out in my backyard over the weekend and that pretty much took care of it. I didn’t notice any lingering plastic smell after I put it on my bed.I’ve read in the other reviews that this mattress has been life-changing in many instances for people suffering from various medical conditions–which is great—but I also want to add that if you’re just looking for increased comfort, it is an excellent investment!Update: as of July 2015, I have slept on the air mattress for 6 months and still do not have any leaks. There’s some normal slow air loss (as you would expect for any air-filled item), but if I refill it about once a month it’s fine. I strongly recommend this if you’re in the market for an added-comfort-without-added-heat mattress topper!

Fantastic but hot
I was waking up stiff and in back and hip pain every morning from my $1,200 mattress because the mattress lost its back support in less than a year of ownership. I hate memory foam, so I decided to try this. I don’t wake up in significant pain anymore. One thing I love about it is that there are spaces between the air pillows, so if I get my legs in the right place, it feels like they are softly being cradled. It’s a very cool feeling. I was imagining it like an air mattress, but it’s a little different; the air pillows inflate and deflate as you move on them, kind of pneumatically if that makes any sense. The only problem I’m having with it [and unfortunately it’s a doozie] is that I keep waking up hot. I’m still giving it 5 stars because it is so great at getting rid of the pain. I’m going to try a bamboo cover for it and just PRAY that helps, because if it doesn’t honestly I think I’m going to start despairing because I don’t know what to try next and this bed problem is becoming expensive.Initially, I have had it wrapped in high quality cotton sheets, and it’s still too hot. If I can’t solve this, it’s gotta go because I’m so sleep deprived I’m starting to feel ill.If I can solve the heat problem, I will buy another one for the second half of my king bed.

Good product-Didn’t work for us.
We bought this, and a separate cover, hoping it would relieve pressure problems for my elderly, petite, bedbound mom. We have a ROHO wheelchair cushion which is durable and works well, so hoped their bed topper would be a winner. It did not work for mom, but hope this lengthy review will help someone searching like we were. It would have helped us.Excellent quality. Three sections you snap together. Sturdy, well-made. Ours came with a pump, so check before you buy an additional pump. Printed, full instructions. Only complaint about instructions is how to properly inflate cushions. Your flat hand placed between the person laying down and the fully inflated topper. Then release air slowly until your hand feels acertain described resistance. Do this for each section; they are sealed independently. I never felt certain I had it correct or was giving her the most benefit. Frustrating. Very individual, I guess.Roho sells toppers with different sized air cells. This topper didn’t work for mom because the cells are big and she isn’t, so her heels and elbows sank down between the cells and rested on the rigid base. Instructions say don’t use mattress covers or pads; that defeats the air cell flotation benefit. But bedbound persons might need pads, as we did. We used pads, but with the bigger air cells the linens just got bunchy with her weight. The user does sink down into the cells some, that’s the benefit to relieve pressure. But it makes daily care challenging. Also, the user is not able to turn on their side. Her heaviest part, hips, sank down into the air cells so she would bend in a flattened “U” shape – very uncomfortable. We inflated the three sections to be more rigid so she could roll and have side time. Not very effective. Then the laborious, lengthy task to re-inflate each section and hope it was correct. This version of the air flotation topper would be appropriate for a mobile person with a bigger body. Inflate it once and be done, adjusting occasionally. This topper was much less expensive than the other version that had more, smaller cells. The smaller cells might have kept her heels, arms, and elbows from sinking down to the base, but the inability to have side time would still be an issue. And the smaller-cell version was out of our price range. I believe in ROHO products so wished it would have been an answer for us.

Great customer service
The mattress works well for my husband who is recovering from a pressure wound that got infected. It’s easy to set up. Even better was the fantastic customer service we got when we discovered there was a leak in one part of the mattress. They quickly contacted me and resolved the situation. Well worth the price. We had purchased a cheaper one with a motor and it was not the same quality. This one surpasses it in comfort.

I live with CRPS for 16 years because broke my heel in 2 places to many surgeries to fix it and now living in constantly pain 24/7. I’m either in wheelchair or my bed. I finally got a mattress and it took bout a month to get use to it. I also have a spinal stimulator in my spine, I just had surgery to move the box and I’m on my second day after surgery and it helps 100% with my spine surgery and now my stomach surgery it helps so much.I will never ever got to a regular mattress again. Mind you unless you have a hospital bed your always need a regular mattress for the ROHO can sit on so you can buy a cheap one and then your ROHO. Love it and I have a 28 pd dog who sleeps on it with me, no holes nothing I’m very rough with mine I have rings on and my dogs nails.
