    Great for caregivers
My sister will tell you this was the best piece of equipment we had to help when I needed assist for standing and walking. Bless her and the occupational therapist who recommended this. The handles make it so much easier.

    Fantastic
I’m so glad I purchased this. I was with help from God, able to help hubby up+ into his chair. The handles on it are fantastic. Hubby feels safer wearing it + transferring is much easier. This is a sturdy gait belt.

Comfortable, secure and easy to use.
Note that the belt is an assist tool. This was easy to use from the get go. I secured it in the car, over a light coat and was able to adjust it quickly and assist immediately and the person I was assisting felt quite secure. When I brought it to the hospital for use instead of the thin canvas belt the PT and OT people were saying: “Where did you get that!” “We want one!” and they preferred using this belt to theirs. It has multiple loops for holding and a secure plastic buckle, which allows for a quick application. The cotton canvas belt which is typically used needs some practice and takes more thought for the nonprofessional. For the person wearing, this belt is is more comfortable than the thinner band. We use the thinner cotton strap for the shower as it dries faster. We use this wide band for general use. It adjust easily if size and fabric changes. I can’t say enough about this product. If you have a use for something like this then this is the one to get. IMHO. [g]

    Good but…
We purchased this gait belt primarily because it goes down to a smaller waist size than most (minimum of 28 inches), 3 inches smaller than the one we were using. It is well made; packaged and delivered in a timely manner too. The wider belt makes it more comfortable than the woven cotton ones which look like they belong in a pair of madras shorts. The quick release buckle makes getting it on and off a real breeze. It might work best on someone who is smaller and not dependent on the belt for transfers, etc., than it did for us. Although my mother is a small person, we really missed a loop handle at the center of the back of the belt, which was present on the belt which became too large for her. It’s nice, but hard for us to use because it lacked that center back handle loop. Other than that, it was a very nice belt for a person too small for beefier versions.

This gait belt is tops. It’s strong and adjustable.
After my US Air Force Korean Conflict veteran husband’s stroke, I was given a cotton gait belt. It was adequate but it was difficult to guide him with what was essentially an extra wide belt. Then I was given my first Secure gait belt. What a difference! With several loops placed around the belt it was much easier to have better control when he walks. He’s 5’ 9”. I’m 5’ 1”. I’m a 69 year old Navy veteran, he’s 86. The Secure gait belt gives me the leverage to ensure his, and my, safety. Never have had a fall using the Secure gait belt! I got this second Secure gait belt so I can wash one and still have the second as a safe way of transferring him. Thank you!

    Very helpful!
I recently lost mobility in one leg and one arm (same side) and purchased this for transfers into and out of the wheelchair, going up stairs while sitting, as a seatbelt to hold me into the wheelchair (so I don’t faceplant at every bump in the sidewalk or doorways), and use while out and about in the community. Since I’m a high fall risk, I wear this any time we are out in the community, especially to physical therapy and doctor visits. I actually also bought a second one that lives on the wheelchair too, so I can have one as a wheelchair seatbelt and another as a gait belt. I also use the wheelchair one to sometimes help me pull myself up onto the wheelchair unassisted, which makes a huge difference.Radiology loved using this belt so much that they asked me where I bought it, stating it is much less tough on them than normal hospital gait belts due to the handles, especially since there are handles in multiple directions. It also clips on easily and adjusts easily, making it quick to get it just right, even with only one arm usable. It was funny–they liked the gait belt so much that it felt like I was wearing a rock star or something–all the ladies were fawning. My husband feels much safer with me wearing this too, since I can go from ground to standing on one foot despite use of only one arm, as long as he gives me a little momentum by pulling me up a little bit, which is probably about 20-30 lbs worth of force compared to the full body weight it would otherwise be without any gait belt. I think the handles are also much easier to grab than normal gait belts and I can clip a carabiner onto it for some things, such as making sure my keys are secure but quickly available during a transfer. All in all, I have had a very good experience using this and highly recommend it. I’ve even come back, as mentioned, to buy another!

Great helper belt and back brace
This belt works perfectly. I was concerned about this style of belt sipping (as some reviews mention) however I found if I tightened my core while I was being pulled up it secured the belt down low where I need it. It also is convenient for someone helping pull me up stairs when I encounter those random steps around town. Lastly, I found it was ALSO an excellent low back brace for more support and stability. THUMBS UP all the way around. My condition has all over muscles weakness especially in the extremities – so my hands are pretty weak… with that being said I can undue the clip. It is a plastic clip but very thick and sturdy and have never had any issues with it failing as mentioned in other product’s reviews. The belt had quite a bit of excess strap left over after fitting it to my waist… so we cut off most of it and made sure to heat seal the edge so the nylon did not unravel. I wish the handles came in red but I am very happy with my purchase.
