works well, but mostly plastic body
I tried this jar opener on a few jars that are are to open and it appears to work well. I first opened the box and there wasn’t any instructions on how to use this device. But to open the jar opener…there’s two parts to the handle and there’s a screw that holds the bottle handle together to the tool. You turn the bottom lever and the bottom handle swings out. This allows the top portion to be free to move and you pull the top part to the desired opening and then place it on the jar lid and swing the bottom handle back to original position and this will lock the jar opener in place. I did not try this on a new unopened jar yet, but the two jars that gives me trouble… this tool made easy work of them. The teeth are metal; but the body is mostly plastic and I don’t know how well it’ll last. The magnet held the tool to the refrigerator, but it wasn’t strong enough to feel comfortable leaving it there.

It works, but the teeth bite into the lid
It’s a little fiddly to use at first, but once you figure it out it is fine. Does it work? Yes. Is it great? No. You do gain mechanical advantage over the lid, but it relies on metal teeth to grip into the lid rather than something like rubber. You cannot get a better grip than by simply closing it down, which should work for many things, but the lack of a fine adjustment seems an oversite. The teeth dig in to plastic lids which I use on mason jars, but also peanut butter and mayonnaise jars. They grip into metal lids, but leave scraped paint and metal gouges. I was hoping this could help my elderly mother but I don’t think it’s good enough.
