Good for price- had one year so far
I don’t often leave reviews, but I thought I’d leave this one! I’ve had two of these locks, one on my patio door and one of my front door for one year now. I’m only back on the page to leave this review because I’ve ordered a third for the door that leads to my garage. So far, I haven’t really had any issues with this. The fingerprint works, and my kids come in the front door every single day using the combo. You can setup multiple combos. Do I think this is the best lack you can get on the market, probably not. But is it efficient for the price, yes. And the locking function seems to work every time. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the connectivity, you have to be close to the lack to get it to do things, but to me I don’t really use that feature often. Really only to check battery life.

Excellent professional customer service supporting a well designed product solution
One of my recent clients required an electronic locking system with remote access, monitoring, keypad entry and a standard physical key solution. Based on so many favorable reviews I decided to give Smonet a try. I was quite impressed with the packaging, detailed pictorial instructions, and mounting hardware provided. After installing the Smart Lock in place of an old mechanical deadbolt, I had a number of questions while I waited for the gateway to arrive. I reached out to the manufacturer through their contact us link. Within 24 hours one of their tech support agents, Helen, reached out to me through WhatsApp. She introduced herself and offer to answer any of my questions. From our text exchange she took the time to walk me through the process of establishing a passcode, and explain various options. Awaiting the gateway and additional ecards I asked how one links them up to the Smart Lock. Helen took the time to demonstrate each function by creating a short video of her walking through it on her own smartphone and then sending it to me through WhatsApp. The printed instructions are very good but the short videos with live demonstration were extremely helpful. I have now successfully incorporated the gateway so they customer can monitor each entry remotely. Also programmed five e-cards for the staff each under their respective names. The app is well designed and easy to follow. And the Smart Lock confirms each successful addition with voice response. I am thoroughly impressed with the product design and it’s many features to the point that I will install a complete Y1 system in my own house so I can be more proficient on it with future clients. I am most impressed with the timely, courteous, and extensive customer support I have received from Helen overseas. To me, timely customer tactical support is most important with product quality, design, and cost a close second. I will highly recommend this product line to all my current and future clients. Keeps locking us INSIDE! 🙁
Keeps locking us inside! Even after we disengaged the “privacy lock“ the bolt continues to lock us inside and needs to be disabled manually via the app. This was a REAL problem for my wife when she was trying to leave the house to run errands and collect our children but did not have the app herself and had to call me to help her (while I was driving at high speeds on a highly congested highway): and I was not close enough for the app’s Bluetooth to connect to the lock and unlock it for her. She had to download the app herself and manually work through set up and features to figure out how to disable it. It was a nightmare. She was late to pick up our children, which caused its own problems. I wanted this loc to work so well since it has so many ways to unlock it, but alas, I remain disappointed—and TERRIFIED I’ll be trapped in my own home during an emergency! Not a risk I’m willing to accept for my family.

Good enough after a year that I am ordering another!
I was so pleased with the first lock that I installed a year-and-a-half ago that I bought another one. This is a follow-up from my first lock review (see below).DOCUMENTED PERFORMANCEAfter more than a year, I can say that the first unit has performed flawlessly. And I am still on the first set of batteries I installed! I only use the lock about once a day, but the result indicates there is no incidental power drain taking place.EASE OF INSTALLATIONThe instructions are a bit sketchy, but having installed one before the actual process itself is super-easy. I strongly advise that you watch one of the many videos on this installation if you are not familiar with such things. Replacing an existing, compatible lock does not take a special skillset, but re-reading the instructions four times will slow you down.TOOLS/PROCEDURESUnlike most companies, they give you plenty of extra screws and parts. You even get a half-decent screw-driver. Obviously if you are installing this in a blank door, you will need tools to cut all of the various holes. If you are replacing an existing lock, you will likely need to drill one hole. A quality drill bit is included! All the holes are easily lined up with an included template.COMPLAINTSI suspect that 95% of the complaints that the lock did not work properly after installing are due to failure to identify the door as being either right or left handed, and setting the controls accordingly (see comment below).I haven’t gotten into any programming other than setting up passcodes. I can, however, see that the programming directions are quite confusing. This is a complaint others have voiced. Again, I would defer to videos or explanations on various websites. It’s a lock, and supported by many installers.=============FIRST LOCK REVIEWThis lock has performed flawlessly, on the same batteries I might add, for 15 months. Never fails to open with the keypad, or with BlueTooth. The BlueTooth works better than advertised–at least 50 yards away. This unit is installed under a small porch roof, with minimal exposure to weather other than in a heavy blow.Simple to install. Direct replacement for standard deadbolt setup. MAKE SURE YOU PERFORM BOTH STEPS TO SET IT UP FOR EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT HAND DOOR! 1) Move internal switch to proper position. 2) Turn knob to the orientation they specify BEFORE you start installing. This is an attractive and well-built unit. I expect the mechanical parts to function for my lifetime. The life of the electronics are anyone’s guess. However, with the quality I see built into the mechanics, I doubt they would skimp on the electronics. After having done much research on this unit, I am extremely pleased with the result.

Between our kids frequently misplacing their keys and family coming in from out of town, my wife and I are constantly walking up and down our stairs to unlock the front door. It’s become irritating, especially when we’re already relaxing comfortably on our couch. So, we decided to upgrade to a smart lock to give our family and guests more options for getting into the house, even without a physical key.A lot of research went into getting a smart lock. Whatever we went with needed to be easy to install and program, as well as provide a variety of options for entry, including physical keys. Most brands, including Weiser and Schlage, had interesting options, but they were all missing some key feature. When we stumbled onto Smonet, we weren’t sure about it because we’d never heard of the brand. But it was close to $100 CAD and had some decent reviews. Since we could return the lock if it didn’t meet our needs, we ordered the Smonet Smart Deadbolt to give it a try.We were not disappointed.I had this deadbolt installed within 30 minutes. It would have taken far less time, but the holes in our front door weren’t properly cut decades ago. I had to modify the door to accommodate a modern lock (would have been the same issue regardless of what brand we went with). I popped in four batteries, opened the Next Lock app, and started programming FOBs, passcodes, and fingerprints without an issue. I got some extra keys copied for the people in my home who like to have a physical key as a backup, but everyone has been using their passcodes or fingerprints to get in since the lock was installed. To be honest, the fingerprint scanner is ultra sensitive. If your finger is dirty or sweaty, you’re not likely to get a good reading. Myself, I’ve been happy with the keypad and entering my code.A bonus feature is the auto-lock. I am well-known for getting distracted and accidentally leaving the deadbolt unlocked. The auto-lock feature allows you to set the time the deadbolt will automatically lock, so you never have to worry about keeping your family protected. The app is pretty decent. Easy to navigate, shows me the battery life, allows me to unlock and then lock the door from wherever I am in the house. Very versatile little unit. There are so many other features we don’t use, like Apple Watch, Alexa, and Google Home, but could if we wanted to.Lastly, the physical key can be copied using a Schlage SC1 key-blank. Don’t go to Home Depot, Rona, or any other general hardware store as they have no clue how to cut these keys. Go directly to a reputable locksmith and tell them to use an SC1. I made multiple copies successfully. If you’re in the market for a smart lock for your home, we’d highly recommend the Smonet Smart Deadbolt. I kind of wish we had more doors in the house. I’d get another one in a heartbeat.

Looks nice, has lots of functionality with the app, was easy to install. Have not run into any issues with it. However, there are a few things I noticed with this smart lock. This smart lock boasts bluetooth capability and I had thought it would use bluetooth proximity from my phone to lock/unlock, but it can’t. For example if I got home and walked to the door with my phone in my pocket, the smart lock would unlock. However, this lock does not have that feature. In addition, the material the touchpad is made of will make it very evident of what buttons are being pressed over time. So you will need to either clean the touchpad every once in a while or change your passcode to use other numbers, for security purposes.Lastly the keys that come with the smart lock look and feel very cheap.

I purchased the Smart Deadbolt, SMONET Fingerprint Electronic Deadbolt Door Lock with Keypad in January 2023, and I have been extremely satisfied with its performance. The lock offers a range of convenient features, including keyless entry, app control, and eKey sharing, making it perfect for modern living. The fingerprint recognition and keypad work flawlessly, providing both security and ease of use. However, after about 11 months, I noticed that the batteries started draining unusually fast. I reached out to customer service (thank you Winter) to report the issue. Their response was prompt and professional. After a few attempts to resolve the issue with battery replacements, they generously offered to send me a new lock. The new lock was shipped out on Thursday and arrived on Saturday morning, demonstrating their commitment to quick and efficient service.I am very pleased with both the replacement lock and the excellent customer service I received. The new lock works perfectly, just like the original one did before the battery issue. This experience has reinforced my confidence in the SMONET brand and their products.I highly recommend the Smart Deadbolt to anyone looking for a reliable and secure smart lock. The product’s functionality, coupled with the outstanding customer service, makes it a worthwhile investment. I am happy with my purchase and will continue to use and recommend SMONET products.

I installed this on my second unit of my home, and while it has plenty of good features, there are a few areas that could be improved.Pros:- Keyless Entry: The touchscreen keypad is responsive, and the keyless feature is really cool.- Bluetooth Connectivity: Pairing with the app was straightforward, and controlling the lock remotely via Bluetooth has been reliable. The app also makes it easy to manage passcodes and monitor usage.- Auto-Lock Feature: The auto-lock functionality is very convenient.- Sleek Design: The lock looks modern and blends well with most door aesthetics.Cons:- Battery Life: The batteries drain faster than expected, especially with frequent usage or in colder climates. Be prepared to replace them every couple of months.- No Wi-Fi Without a Hub: This doesn’t support Wi-Fi out of the box. If you want remote access from anywhere, you’ll need to purchase a separate hub.- Setup Process: While the physical installation was manageable, the software setup took longer than expected due to some connectivity hiccups.Final Thoughts:It’s a good price for a solid mix of convenience and security. However, adding a hub for Wi-Fi or improving battery life would make it even better. If you’re okay with Bluetooth and occasional maintenance, it’s a great choice for a keyless upgrade.
